This is by far the hardest software to get to grips with

out of curiosity, the end goal for smart hybrid is to basically have cad modelling? chamfer and fillets, projecting shapes and extruding from the shape based on the shape its projected on etc? will normals be generated automatically or with each procedure you have to convert polys into nurbs?

Are you compiling the version via a compiler? I don't quite understand what's going on.

No, I was referring to Volodymyr's GPU build, recently. I noticed that when I would try to run the normal build of 3DCoat after testing (on the GPU build), I would get some strange behavior here and there. Perhaps this is one of those situations. I removed the GPU build > Uninstalled 3DCoat (normal build) > re-installed and removed OneDrive (I don't know why 3DCoat is writing to that directory as I don't use OneDrive).

I retested with the RMB menu and the Clone tool. Both appear to be working correctly now. Now, we just need to fix the problem with the shape/lasso draw modes not working with the UV Preview. It takes too much time and effort to have to select many different UV islands one at a time. That is why the shape/lasso draw modes are really needed in the UV Preview. We also need to fix the problem with the Cut Slice tool in the Curves Editor, and the CURVES/STROKES tool.

The major problem...yes, it is a big problem because the CURVES/STROKES tool doesn't work properly when you cannot make the CUT SLICE in the RETOPO Room. What is the point in having to switch to the Sculpt Workspace to use it? It's not intuitive for new users or even experienced 3DCoat artists. No one would expect or want to have to switch to the Sculpt Room just to make the selection. In fact, the CURVES/STROKES tool...in its current state...isn't even half as useful as the legacy STROKES tool, because of this CUT SLICE issue. It wasn't thought through and tested...comparing the functionality of the STROKES tool with the CURVES STROKES tool. I will record a demonstration, to show what I mean.

Who needs to make a cut slice of a Retopo Mesh? Just like in the legacy STROKES tool, you make a Cut Slice profile on the SCULPT OBJECT within the RETOPO workspace....in order to make a Retopo Mesh. You use it to make a Retopo mesh...not cut a current Retopo mesh. As stated in the following video, the CURVES/STROKES tool is totally inferior to the legacy Strokes tool and thus should be removed if the same functionality the Strokes tool provides is not matched or exceeded. It cannot do 2/3's of the work the legacy strokes tool does. Can we please fix this?

...also, as I was talking about in the video, when a 3DCoat user wants to create a SHAPE/LASSO from the E-Panel, 3DCoat will scale it from the CENTER...not from the corner. With the CURVES tools for creating shapes, it does not scale from the center, but the corner instead. This makes it really hard...unnecessarily hard...to place shapes accurately within other shapes, such as a smaller circle within a bigger circle. This forces users to have to create improperly aligned shapes and move them with the Transform tool AFTER they are created. This is totally inefficient and annoying because it forces users to make extra clicks and extra effort, spending extra time performing the same exact task.

would this be like cad modelling because im confused .

what sort of tools would be available , whats the constraints ? would this only be for sending meshes to cad software?

also why has it become its own room and not a set of tools for the modelling room?

also the more i see , this could all have been achieved if proper subd was implemented , meaning the hi poly would have a low poly cage ,however the hybrid offset is good

Hybrid Guides in Development

thats amazing thank you! ive tried to figure this out myself , i create a hybrid surface which then makes about 200 seperate individual meshes but none of them i can select , if if i learn the ins and outs of this new system would you be ok if i sent ideas for simplifying the tools etc?
