Why does the Linux version not get any updates?

I guess there is no people with knowledge to maintain this. SERGI obviously can not maintain OSX and Linux by himself.  This happened with 2024 version too, where we basically had  one build, beginning the year, and than nothing for more than a year. If you use Linux I think best is to upgrade 3dCoat every 2 years. Or move to  Blender for sculpting it works way better on Linux. For painting so far only alternative is MARI, that also works great. 3DCoat works nice with Wine, so that is also workable alternative.

Ah okay, thanks for replying.

Ive noticed working with wine prefixes trough a Launcher there's still some stuff in 3DCoat what's working different compared to the native 3DCoat. Small glitches etc.
I'll keep in mind what you're saying SreckoM, thanks.

Hi,

Im wondering why the Linux version does not get any updates. Why is that?

After migrating 3DCoat from AngelScript to Python, the project became completely broken under macOS and Linux. With our combined efforts and a lot of time, we were able to resolve the Python issues on macOS, but they remain unresolved on Linux.

It would be nice to somehow mention these things, like disclaimer on Buy page, so we know that we will again pay same as Windows and OSX users but get fraction of features they get and decide is it worth buying/upgrading. Would be fair to have this kind of warning somewhere.

I will ask ownership about some kind of recompense for Linux users who have had a license in the past year. They are very fair, so I think something worthwhile can be done.

I managed to built flatpak for 3Dcoat myself and now it should work on every distro that has flatpak installed. It was made from prebuilt 2015.15 version. Did not do thorough testing but it works, both Wayland and X11.  I can share this if devs are ok with this, or can send it to Sergii.

I did test it on Ubuntu 25.10 and Ubuntu 24.04. Standard 3dcoat build will not start form neither of these.
