I guess I didn't clarify what I was referring to....just maybe 5-10 minutes or so to point out some of the changes that have occurred since you first made it, and cite an example where a new tool may be used (without going into a lengthy demonstration of any kind); not trying to redo whole segments of the original. That's why I stated an "amendment"...sort of like Dan Ablan does with some of his Signature Series DVD's.

Ah ok, yeah that is what I am doing. :)

No worries then, It should hit the rest of the distro tomorrow or Sunday. I'll then start marketing this action once I have the amendment video done.

Initially I was re-recording parts with updates, but wow, it was taking a lot of time and work.

Agreed. I was just watching the sample vids and noticed some changes immediately. Like the Hide tool acting differently (now called Cell Hide) and the Vox Tree not having it's buttons along the bottom.

Crazy yeah? I can't believe how fast Andrew works on the program. So much has changed in just 6 months. Voxels have gotten alot of improvements.

Hey all,

I've officially launched the DVD now! Thanks to all those who helped me test out the download links. It is much appreciated. Also thanks to Don for pushing me to get that 3.2 addendum done quick. :)

I've posted a link in the announcement section so you can find the quick blurb there. If you want to get right down to the nitty gritty, you can find it on my site here:

Hey Ken, sorry to hear about your drive failure, I had 2x seagate drives fail about a year ago, 2nd one was a replacement for the 1st one  anyways I have used this method before to save data, throw your drive in a vacuum sealable bag and put it in the freezer for about 20 minutes, trust me it has worked for me before, enough to get atleast your most valuable data onto another drive, I lost 18 months work of personal work before and it hurts, usually I'm fastidious about backing up work but...

Good luck

Morgs

If you run into this problem again, or better yet - want to pro-actively prevent it by having marginal sectors mapped out before they fail , check out:

He also hosts a weekly security podcast that is a 'must listen'

But, I'd always recommend using RAID instead.

I've used RAID on all my Windows and OS X boxes, at least the ones with data I care about, for years without a problem - and have been very happy with this company:

Oh don't hold your breath! I'm nowhere near the league of all you guys. I think I bought 3DC because I thought it was a make art button! I'm very new to modeling and unfortunately caught the addiction. I only use Hexagon and Poser/DAZ Studio...so I'm a total noob! ;) But I am hopeful that with these tutorials and watching you masters here in the forum, maybe a lil skill will rub off!

Oh a newbie! :p: Welcome, Hopefully you'll post some cool stuff you make after watching the DVD!

Javis, I own the original. Are there plans to make an adendum available for early birds?

Sure thing! For those who have already purchased it, just email or PM me, and I'll send you a link for it. :)

For you Tony, check your PM inbox shortly for the link!

Just bought it yesterday and have already received the addendum, Thanks Javis! Your retopo webinar was the whole reason I finally bought 3DC and although I don't have a clue at the moment your tutorials are very helpful!

Hey Crystal! Welcome to the forum crew! It's good to see new members. :)

Funny thing is, I saw your order go through as I was rendering the video for the addendum. Thanks for you support as well! I'm glad you enjoyed the webinar the retopo webinar, we had a few snags but that one went alright.

Thanks for the kind words, and I'm glad the tutorials are helpful!

Heh, yeah the addiction is pretty great with 3D. :D It's really fun to do and can easily turn into a living, too.

I'm sure the tutorials will help out quite a bit, I also recommend some of Glen Southern's stuff. He's a pretty accomplished modeler that uses Silo, but the techniques/methods he uses are pretty universal of course. Check 'em out here:

Yeah..right now, to approach the level of sculpting you find in ZBrush and Mudbox within 3DC...you really are forced to have to model a second time, by having to retopologize and UV after the sculpt. It's a bit of a pain in the bum comparatively, but I'm trying to find a good alternate workflow (avoiding retopologizing) by importing the original model into the retopo room and snapping it to the voxel clay sculpt. I was going to do a brief tutorial on it, but I got a bit of a mess in some areas when trying to snap the model.

I reported this, but Andrew hasn't responded...probably was busy with the Ptex stuff. I think this is bigger. If the original model can snap appropriately, then it removes a major hassle that Voxel Clay Sculpting inherently produces. So Voxels provide a great alternative to sculpting with geometry, but with the cost of extra work in the process...if you are importing your model. When planning out a model, you may find it better to start your model in Voxels instead of an external application...that way you are actually detailing first and modeling second. Almost a reverse workflow.

Anyhow, the images are some of the niggly issues with snapping the original model to a moderately detailed voxel sculpt. If Andrew will fix this, I'll be happy to do a traditional workflow tutorial/demonstration.

I just watched your addendum. I'm afraid part of it was wrong. A number of times during it you mentioned that the Hide tool is the only one that cuts with the E panel options. There are several tools that work with it, Carve, Sphere, 2D paint, and others. That's what I disliked about this change, the tools don't all work the same way anymore.

Ach!! For some reason it wasn't working with me in some of the previous builds. I guess Andrew added it back or something else...?

Either way, that is great news. I found it a little annoying.

Thanks for the heads up!

I second that emotion. Personally I'd be happy with just a low-res version of the addendum on Vimeo.

Hi there,

Did you purchase it already from KURV, more recently directly from me or just commenting on it? Just making sure, your post is a little ambiguous in this regard. :pardon:

If you purchased it please PM me and I'll get you a download link for it right away. :)
