Member southerngfx Posted April 4, 2010 Member Share Posted April 4, 2010 Hi all, Just saying a quick hello in the forums. I've been meaning to try 3DCoat for ages and I've never really had time to sit down and have a go. I've been a ZBrusher since v.95 which was about 1999 If I remember correctly so changing my sculpting habits will be hard. I have Mudbox but never use it for some reason. I have no idea how to sculpt with Voxels yet, but listening to Phil and Leigh I think I'll enjoy it. I'll post any doodles in here I think. I painted a 3DCoat Munny (see my avatar) last year for some reason so I assume I was going to dabble in 3DC then..lol Off to look for some good starter vids. Hey I hope you find 3d coat usable in your workflows. Voxel's really are great fun to work with, and once you get used to em there damn fast too. Enjoy your stay here. - Leigh

Member southerngfx Posted April 6, 2010 Author Member Share Posted April 6, 2010 Thanks for making me very really welcome guys. I've only just scratched the surface for now. I've messed with the voxels mainly and I'm liking what I see. The tools seem to be all there and I'm slowly getting the hang of building up volume. In some ways it feels familiar (like navigating around a model) and in others I feel like I'm having a bath with socks on. As with everything it's just practice I suppose, get the muscle memory working. Glen

Advanced Member The Candy-floss Kid Posted April 21, 2010 Advanced Member Share Posted April 21, 2010 Great to see you here Glen. Yes bathing with your socks on , writing with a quill pen on custard, or beating a rice pudding up a hill with a stick :-) Voxels do require muscle memory as you say but once you're used to voxels I've found it to be the virtual equivalent of a digital media feeling like an actual material with it's own qualities of response. Look forward to seeing what great work you do - for you surely will.
