Thanks everyone. Yes, I did like the plastic soldier green too.

Could change the colors once more after the character is done.

Michalis, your country's culture is a great source of inspiration to me.

You probably remember those diving items:

diver_k.jpg

I saw this kind of mask many times when I was a kid in Greece.

It's funny because there is a kind of ping-pong ball inside the tube part.

Cheers!

Oh, I was a child when people using this. I never used this. Just the tube, always.

My, vintage!!!!

Yeah the ping pong ball, it never worked. The worst was, everything could become blurred, breathing inside the mask. And a fast building problem with ears, of course.

Yes! This stuff was OK when looking down at sand or rocks, but

when looking forward, the water used to go straight into the pipe.

Didn't try it, but remember kids suffocating or trying to take the ping-pong ball

out of the pipe. Anyway, it's a part of my childhood memories and I like it's design

(romantic but not practical).

Started the diver's head.

I found it difficult to sculpt after a while playing with booleans.

Hard to find the motivation knowing the time it will take to end him...

I made a kind of hollow "Barbie Doll" head in order to save few memory.

shoot! Is that true?

I'll have to inject new voxel inside then. Too bad.

But, yes, thinking a little bit more tells me that you are right.

What about a cylinder for the neck and a sphere for the head

extracted from the mass. That wouldn't be too detailed for the

interior surface, no?

That's something that should be tested.

I'll see if I can find time to do so.

Probably a simple sphere with a high definition (X8?),

the same but with its center extracted, and another one

with a complicated volume extracted inside.

Thank you BeatKitano.

There is a lot of tools that I never saw before in the lowres mode.

Wonderful to see that details are not washed away after tweaking in lowres.

I'll go for this head:

diver_n.jpg

Not perfect, but I think I could add skin details in Photoshop later on.

I will try to make his air with alpha masked polygons.

Looks like a diver head to me. :) I like also both color schemes for the equipments.Nice work!

If you feel lazy you could keep him hairless like Jean-Marc Barr in "Le Grand Bleu".

Indeed, it reminds me Jean-Marc Barr a bit.

I love this film. One of the few 3-4 movies that captured the greek islands (or mediterranean) light. Very difficult to photo this. Go norther, south (egypt) and photos are easier. They were shooting at ~6am

So Garagarape, you gonna need a great mediterranean rocky background and a dolphin at least. .

Attached the items to the body mesh.

It just didn't fit at all. I had to use

Maya deformers (wire tool) to make adjustments.

Obviously it is better not to build body and items separately...

Texture still wip. When texture will be done I'll try to animate him.

Chris, thanks! Yes it is almost all 3dCoat done.

Just merged the body and the gear in Maya.

The normal map and occlusion baking is done in Xnormal after a "dense quad" export.

Thanks Digman. I still have to learn Messiah to make something similar to your dino presentation.

LJB. Yes it is time to make him move. Just fighting against my laziness (bought "Ace Combat4" for Ps2 in a bargain sale...)

BlackAnt Master, yes you're right about the legs. May add a r128 g128 b255 20% layer on those parts. Don't tell anybody that I use this trick :)

Changed the skin color (too pink) and the glass transparency a bit (#369)

It is Messiah. Just can't understand the way to properly set

the materials. Have to pay a membership to get to the beginner video

tutorials, that sucks... :)

I will not sculpt new things in 3dCoat before this diver swims in

a sea scenery.

Between, I like your soldier very much. It is obvious that you

enjoy sculpting. I should try this way too. See you.

Man that is looking quite nice! Can't wait to see it all finished up in a scene. :)

If you have any questions about messiah, let me know and I'll try to answer them. I am working on a project atm that uses a lot of messiah surfacing and animation. PS, try using the autorigger for your guy, I think it'll work pretty well.
