Advanced Member Garagarape Posted July 22, 2012 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted July 22, 2012 Thanks L'Ancien Regime! Updated #476 screen-shot. May be a little bit better with hair and torned sleeves. One more week to make a little scenery as a background and it will be done.
Advanced Member Garagarape Posted August 10, 2012 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted August 10, 2012 Still a kid after all! Couldn't help buying ps vita... The Macross robot toy is here to make the next sculpt easier. I will attempt to reproduce it in 3dCoat, and animate it (fighter-->battroid) in Maya. Advanced Member Garagarape Posted October 23, 2012 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted October 23, 2012 Long time not sculpt. A little dragon trial before coming back to hard surface.

Advanced Member Garagarape Posted October 26, 2012 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted October 26, 2012 Digman, Leigh, Thanks! Ouch, I'm so rusty... Discovering new stuff like ghost mode. The Battroid will wait a little; kind of Macross saturated after 6 months game development. Little progress on the dragon. The aim is to get a real taste on it, with muscles, tendons, veins and skin realistic feel. Ohh... Michalis is gonna shout at me, if I don't make a good one
Member Yearoftheox Posted October 26, 2012 Member Report Share Posted October 26, 2012 nice start. Is that from RS concept?

Advanced Member Garagarape Posted October 30, 2012 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted October 30, 2012 Thanks Yearoftheox, thanks Chris. What is "RS"? I know only "Real Sh*t" expression Fucked-up my knee at rugby last Sunday. Don't mean more time to sculpt though (half an hour to jump in my pants... I feel so weak). Here is a little update on the dragon (a bit too much juvenile and faty). May add more spikes and stuffs:
Advanced Member chris_solo Posted October 30, 2012 Advanced Member Report Share Posted October 30, 2012 good proportions!! keep it up^^ ++Chris
Member Yearoftheox Posted October 30, 2012 Member Report Share Posted October 30, 2012 RS=Runescape. I figured if it was based off the runescape concept, you would know what 'rs' was. I went looking for the concept, the proportions are similar, thats probably what reminded me of it.

Advanced Member Garagarape Posted November 2, 2012 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted November 2, 2012 Changed the head shape a bit. The previous one was too simple:
Reputable Contributor digman Posted November 2, 2012 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted November 2, 2012 Coming along nicely... I find the large frontal horns a bit distracting as they compete with the head for your attention but that might just be me...
Advanced Member Garagarape Posted November 3, 2012 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted November 3, 2012 Thanks for the comment Digman. Yes, you are right. On this pick, the parts balance is not good. I'll see when the whole thing will be a little bit more detailed if there's a way to correct this. I wish the big wings that are still to be added will counter-balance the problem.

Contributor BeatKitano Posted November 3, 2012 Contributor Report Share Posted November 3, 2012 I wasn't convinced before to be honest (face getting same detail size, too regular), but that update, the back plates sell it completely. Keep going I really like it.
Advanced Member Garagarape Posted November 3, 2012 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted November 3, 2012 Thks Carlosa and BeatKitano! I took a risk going into detail sculpt too early. Always repeating the same mistakes... Hopefully the new tools will help to fix it (Just discovered "Absolute" --> Nice tool. I wonder how the very begin of the model is kept alive). Contributor Tony Nemo Posted November 3, 2012 Contributor Report Share Posted November 3, 2012 Very good! It would be an excellent animation to see the nose flaps and neck plates flare in a demonstration of either sexual attraction or rival intimidation. Advanced Member Garagarape Posted November 4, 2012 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted November 4, 2012 Thanks for the kind comments. I try to keep it sharp, using "flaten" and "pinch", but still it is very rough if you zoom-in. The idea of animated neck plate is cool. It would need a much more complicated work-flow though. A work-flow like the one used in companies like Epic ---> sculpt and bake all the little pieces separately, then bring them all together to get the whole model. The Artist "Slipgatecentral" would do it, but I'm not brave enough. Back to the peanut butter shader / refining the forward legs:
Contributor Tony Nemo Posted November 4, 2012 Contributor Report Share Posted November 4, 2012 Will it have a weaponized tail like a stegosaurus?
Advanced Member Garagarape Posted November 5, 2012 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted November 5, 2012 Tony Nemo, thanks for the idea. I was planning on puting a rider on his back with a saddle and leather strap stuff, but didn't know what to do with its tail. As long as it doesn't destroy the silhouette, a few spikes may be good. But first I must think of a way to add the wings.
