Digman, TimmyZDesign,

Thanks for the tips! I didn't know about "CleanUpMemory" and Reconstruct tool.

I'll try them from now on, instead of going back to voxel mode.

I wish I could use CleanUpMemory on my own brain. So many useless information on my hard disc ... :)

The model polycount is 7 289 648 tris at the moment (X2). With a (X4) definition I have a big slow down on this pc.

LC is the only way to push details further.

Thanks!

Thanks Artman.

I made a lighter version of it (simple Autopo) in order to share it in the exchange library.

It is a 6M obj file, rather rough, but may be handy to save time when starting a new character (import with "merge").

male_basemesh_03.jpg

It is uploaded on my website:

http://garagarape.free.fr/takarabako/male_basemesh.obj

The problem is that I don't know how to make it easily downloadable for other people.

When you go to this Url, you just get a text file of the vertex index... ?!

If someone knows a way to fix that, please let me know.

For the Linux there is no problem downloading the file.

Right Click the link and choose "Save link as", The name of the obj file appears for saving and just select where on your hard drive you want to place the obj file.

If you just left click on the link, then you are just shown the obj file in text format...

I'm not sure how windows handles the downloading...

Not necessarily. This a half helm (Switzerland type). I didn't managed to

reproduce the original shape perfectly with primitives + booleans.

We are used to see knights in full armor. But I'd like to make this

one lightly equipped. At least it would be good to have a mix

of clothes, leather and steel (chainmail?) in order to have interesting folds

and different aspects on the outfit. Still I don't know what the general design

could look like. But I want to avoid the traditional all tin-canned looks.

Seems that only the very riches knights could afford a complete armor.

This one may be a very poor and dirty one in the end (I love dirt) :)

Thanks for the comments.

I like the shoes too. But I didn't imagine them.

All the design I picked-up are from this book:

The crazy people that you can see in this book built their own armors and clothes

probably from documents or old pieces of armor.

There were more complete armors pics to work with, but I thought it would be

a nightmare (Knightmare?) to rig, and chose a lightly equiped footman.

This one is really great though:

That's quite a challenge. Too much for me now.

Yes, the thumbs are not great. Thanks for the sketches and reference site!

The codpiece is a nice idea :) But it will be hiden by the long tunic he wears. Lets say he has one under the tunic.

You've run into a problem that I have encountered in my own work in which the sleeves appear to float around the forearms rather than obeying gravity. It maybe that this issue is best dealt with by constricting the circumference around the forearm with falloff toward the upper arm. A sag under the arm (as is natural) would need to be dealt with in animation to allow wrist rotation without defying gravity.

Wondered why I hadn't seen any emails re. updates on your sketchbook page... I'm having that problem again which throws your thread off my subscribed list and won't allow me to re-follow it.

Great updates too, which I've missed!

Going to ping Vladimir again.

Thanks, Alvordr, Tony, WaveOfLight and Artman.

Working on the model 10 minutes a day. Yep, the leaves

will be a problem for my animation and rigging skills... We'll see.

I hope WaveOfLight troubles with the site will be fixed. I had the same experience once.

And it was solved but I don't remember how.

Artman, thanks again for your presets!
