Advanced Member Ghostdog Posted January 13, 2011 Advanced Member Report Share Posted January 13, 2011 Hi, myself and Jake_H are residents of Brisbane, Queensland. 75% of the State has been declared a disaster zone. The state covers an area larger than France & Germany combined. I'm stranded near an area badly hit but no damage to home or family. I can only hope Jake is fine. Communication is obviously difficult. A tropical cyclone is developing far away in the East, so far posing no immediate threat. If you can spare any amount of money please consider donating. The official site is Donate to the Queensland floods Sadly we have just heard a flood in Brazil has claimed 170lives. Brazil floods Nature is a powerful force that has a amazingly ability to remind us we are 'only' human. Take care, Robbie

Advanced Member Jake_H Posted January 15, 2011 Advanced Member Report Share Posted January 15, 2011 Hi Robbie We are fine - I live up in the hills in the northern Suburbs - so no damage with us either. It was kind of surreal from my POV, as I watched the majority of the event on TV , (staying at home as instructed), I work in the valley - I think you mentioned you worked in the city - so we only go back on Monday. But yes my heart goes out to those affected by the flooding - Brazil included (sounds very hard core).
