Advanced Member kenmo Posted January 17, 2011 Advanced Member Report Share Posted January 17, 2011 Any tips on how to paint a brick like texture to a cylinder shaped model? The texture I'm using is tileable... See image #1 The texture appears OK when I paint the front of the model (image #2) however when I turn the object to it's side to paint it the texture appears messed up (image #3)... I've tried this several times... Both using 3DC's auto mapping and using maps created using UV Mapper Classic... I've used 3DC many times in the past to paint an organic model or paint a texture to a flat like model and had satisfactory results... What am I doing wrong? Any tips, thoughts or link to tutorial would be much appreciated...

Reputable Contributor digman Posted January 18, 2011 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted January 18, 2011 If your cylinder is unwrapped in uv space as one piece, then you can use the texture uv editor and the paint the flat strip or use Place image along spline tool to wrap you bricks. I think painting the strip works better though. The texture uv editor works with the background image and as long as your texture is seamless you will not get a seam line along the uv seam. Looks like the texture editor is the way to go... Many thanks for the replies...
