[DX ONLY]

Snow, Car Paint and Tire/Rubber shaders.

post-631-0-74565600-1327467765_thumb.pngpost-631-0-13484700-1327467779_thumb.pngpost-631-0-17094500-1327467788_thumb.png

Turntables using these shaders here.

You'll need to take the ".zip" off the file to be able to install it through 3D-Coat.

To install, go to File -> Install Extension -> then select the .3dcpack file.

The Car Paint and Tire shaders use a PicMat base with some cube mapped texture noise/scratches. 2 spec layers that you can set the color and sharpness of the spec. And instead of using a PicMat based reflection, it uses an environment reflection (same thing used in the paint room "Environment Shade" under View). It looks a little more realistic especially on flatter surfaces.

Top is PicMat, bottom is environment reflection.

Hope someone finds these useful.

3DArtist, I didn't manage to use your shaders in the end :(

With the snow one, I have the specular shinny little dots

but the material remains black.

Do I have to load a texture that is not included in your pack by default?

I tried to load different picmat textures but without success.

I run the DX version of 3dCoat 3.7.01B. May be it is quite old

for the shaders to work. I thought it could be my graphic card, but other

default shaders are OK.

If you have time, please give me a hint.

Cheers.

Thank you Garagarape, the Snow shader was acting strange on my computer also and somehow I missed it.

Here is the updated GC_ShaderPack. The only change is the fixed snow shader.

GC_ShaderPack_v1.1.3dcpack.zip

And here is just the snow shader if the shaderpack is already installed:

GC_Snow_bugfix_01.3dcpack.zip

Remember:

You'll need to take the ".zip" off the file to be able to install it through 3D-Coat.

To install, go to File -> Install Extension -> then select the .3dcpack file.

Thanks for checking!

It doesn't work properly here. There may be something wrong with my pc.

Here is a screen-shot, but it probably won't help:

3dArtist_SnowShader.jpg

Seems that there is no fresnel or texture loaded.

I'm gonna see if there's a graphic card problem and read about materials in 3dC (I don't know much about it).

If I find something I'll get back to you, but it may takes a little time for I'm not learning fast.

See you!

It looks like it is loading the sparkles (CustomSampler2.dds) but not the picmat(CustomSampler1.dds).

I will try to test it on another computer to see if I can recreate this.

The only thing I can think of right now to try is:

  1. Copy the attached files to the GC_Snow shader folder (overwrite Variables.xml) in "Shaders\Custom\GC_Snow\" folder in your 3D-Coat program folder.
  2. Then in 3D-Coat, right click on the GC_Snow shader and click edit permanent shader settings.
  3. Load CustomSampler1.png into the Snow Texture slot.

Sorry you are having issues with it. :( Do the other GC_Car_Paint and GC_Car_Tire shaders work for you?

Sorry, I tried to fix the problem with the attached variables,

but the same problem remains.

I wonder if there's an issue with the extension installer.

Something that bugs me is that, when I previously loaded your 3dpack,

only the car paint shader appeared in the shader folder, but named like

picmat stuff (no "GC_snow" or "GC_tire"). Though there is no snow shader

or tire shader in the custom folder, they do appear in the 3dc interface  .

Something that may be part of the problem is that I work on a japanese pc.

For example pass adress is slighty different : no slashes but a ¥symbol.

I'm really sorry to take your time like that. It is a free shader you made on your own.

What is important is that other people tried it and adopted it. It may just be a particular

case. I go back to the start point and will try to understand more about materials

before taking your time. Ohhh, it look so good on your video. I envy you :)

Cheers.

A couple more shaders that may be useful:

  • Depth shader
  • Vertex Color only shader

Depth shader:

  1. Adjust the "Depth End" until the far end of the object is white.
  2. Adjust the "Depth Start" until the near end of the object is black.
  3. "Depth Shift" slides the depth nearer or further away.

GC_MP_Depth and VColor.3dcpack.zip

Remember to remove the ".zip" before installing extension in 3DC.

By the way, in a second time, I also tried to install the shaders by

dropping them directly in the custon shader folder (wich is may be a bit silly).

No, not silly. That would have been another thing I would have suggested. It's puzzling that the sparkles load but not the picmat.

i'm failed in removing .zip with Win7, but i can remember that in XP it was possible just by "renaming".

How can i do this with Win7 ?

a ".3dcpack" file is just a renamed ".zip" file. I have to add the zip extension to be able to upload to the forum.

Renaming in Win 7 is just like in XP, what error are you getting when you try to remove the ".zip"?

The final file name should be "GC_MP_Depth and VColor.3dcpack"

My win7 doesnt show the filename (.zip), when i try to "rename" it. But i know that somewhere in the "deep" preferences of Win 7 you can set, that the filename should be showing within the document name then it would be possible to remove "zip".

But i manually "installed" the pack now trough user/documents/3dcoatV3/shaders/custom.....

It works also fine.

Thank you for your shaders :)

Hope This help.

Is my best attempt for version 4.8.

There is 2 version that are camera projection based.

- MP_Depth_Orthographics

- MP_Depth_Perspective: for this version is important change camera location (Zoom Im/Out) to get better results.
