Member dapperlap Posted February 28, 2012 Member Share Posted February 28, 2012 BUILD: 3.7.05B-CUDA64 and 3.7.06-SIMP64 OS: Vista 64 Home Premium SP2 6.05.26 HW: GeForce GTX 550 Ti (and GeForce GTX 460) Drivers: GeForce 295.73 (8.17.12.9573) (updated today); DX 10.0 (6.0.6000.16386) Bug Description: As of 3.7.05B, the "Shaders" tab is unpopulated, leaving me unable to assign different shaders to objects. Uninstalling and re-installing to a different directory doesn't resolve the issue. Windows menu -> "Reset all pages to default" doesn't resolve the issue. Both GL and DX exes show the issue. Reverting to 3.7.04C again shows the shaders. Both 3.7.05B-CUDA64 and 3.7.06-SIMP64 fail to show the shaders, so it seems unrelated to CUDA support. Javis
Hi, Try RMB clicking in the tab (where presumably a shader preview would be) to see if a menu comes up. If it does try using one of the refresh commands in the list. With any luck that may work. Also, delete the options.xml file in your user folder. As a last resort, try opening 3DC with admin rights. This might work, too.
Member dapperlap Posted February 28, 2012 Author Member Share Posted February 28, 2012 Thanks for the reply geo. I've got no UI response at all from the empty Shaders panel, either the tab labeled "shaders" or the tray where the icons would normally be. Nuking Options*.xml didn't fix. I also tried renaming my entire 3D-CoatV3 user directory to make it inaccessible to 3dc, didn't work either. Running as admin didn't fix. Member Shawn Posted February 29, 2012 Member Share Posted February 29, 2012 I had the same issue, nothing in the Shaders tab for 3.7.05B Cuda64, RMB does not function in the empty space, needs a thumbnail to activate. Deleting *.Option.xml files (about 10 or so files) in the main 3DCoat folder solved the problem. GTX580, Windows 7 Ultimate

Member dapperlap Posted March 4, 2012 Author Member Share Posted March 4, 2012 Thanks for the reply Shawn, unfortunately that isn't fixing it for me. Geo, I reinstalled the three versions to separate directories, backing up and then deleting the user data folder from each of their first runs, so that each version (3704C, 3705B, 3706) would make its own user data folder from scratch. 3705B and 3706 show the issue on the first run of an install, where the installer created a fresh user data folder, so it doesn't look like this is related to bad settings or configurations. I checked the Log.txt files; there seems nothing obvious to me that started or stopped between 3704C and 3705B (not that I know how to interpret them). I even tried copying all the folders under the 3704C program folder into the 3705B folder, this didn't fix it either. The bug is still present in 3.7.06A. Thanks sculptestor, glad to know I'm not just crazy. Like I said in my original post, 3.7.04C works fine for me.
Member dapperlap Posted March 22, 2012 Author Member Share Posted March 22, 2012 3.7.06B release notes include "shaders list problem solved". Didn't check that specific version, but the shaders list works properly in the latest 3.7.08A for me. Thanks all!
