Add/Split

Add polygons using the lines between points. In this mode you can add new polygons, as well as split faces and edges, and connect vertices. Use RMB to tweak edges/vertices

Select

In this mode you can select individual vertices, edges and faces. Use CTRL to remove elements from selection. Select an element with LMB, then move (slide) them with RMB. In 'Face' mode use INSERT to subdivide faces and DEL to delete. In 'Edge' mode use INSERT to split edges, BKSP to collapse, DEL to remove edges, L to select edge loops, and R to select edge rings, SHIFT to select/highlight edge rings.

Quads

Select an edge and add a strip of quads

Points to Polygons

Add points with LMB. Tweak points and add faces with RMB. (look at preview) Force triangles with SHIFT. Hold cursor close to the center of potential quad for more precise placing of the quad.

Cap

Cap tool - fill holes with a single click. Use SHIFT to cap holes with a single polygon instead of adding central point

Strokes
Tool options...

1. Draw strokes and press ENTER to create a loft polysurface.
2. You can draw simple surface-strip in mode Strip.
3. You can draw boundary of mesh in mode Quadrangulation. Press ESC to clear strokes. If you hold Shift the Snaping off. Start drawing in empty space to slice.

Knife

Cut a face by Knife. Draw the line and press ENTER.

Spine Tool
Tool options...

Extrude selected faces along Arc. Angle and Axis of the Arc can edit by Gizmo. You can edit Qty of Segment and Scale factor.

Smart Extrude
Tool options...

Extrude face or edge along any direction.Also you can scale and rotate a selected faces or edges.

Free Extrude

Extrude in any direction. Pay attention that new vertices will not be snapped automatically, but they will snap in further operations if you don't turn off Auto snap

Normal Extrude

Extrude along average normal direction. Pay attention that new vertices will not be snapped automatically, but they will snap in further operations if you don't turn off Auto snap

Extrude Faces

Extrude faces so that each face will be moved on the same distance whenever possible. Pay attention that in some cases exactly parallel faces displacement is impossible but 3DCoat tries to displace as exactly as possible.

Extrude Vertices

Extrude faces so that each vertex will be displaced on the same distance.

Free Moving

Moving selected faces/edges/vertices. By using mouse or Gizmo. If nothing is selected entire mesh will be transformed

Transform

Sharp Edges

Mark edges as sharp. Normals will be split along those edges.

Brush

This tool works similar to a soft selection. Vertices closest to the center of the brush cursor move more than those at the outer edges. Use SHIFT to smooth vertices spacing

Delete Polygons

Click (individually) or drag cursor along polygons to delete them. Hold the CTRL key to delete connected sets of polygons

Delete Edges

Delete edges, edge rings, or edge loops. Hold down CTRL key to quickly select & delete entire edge loops

Collapse

USE LMB on an edge to collapse it. Use CTRL+LMB to collapse edge rings

Split Rings

Split edge rings with a line

Move

Tweak vertices, edges, and faces

Slide Edges

Use LMB to slide edges. CTRL+LMB will slide edge loops

Mark Seams

Mark seams on the UV-Map. CTRL+LMB unmarks a seam

Edge Loops

Mark entire edge loops on the UV-Map. Use CTRL+LMB to unmark them

Clear

Clear all drawn lines from the mesh

Cloth Relax

Relax UV islands so that opposite edges on edges in quads will get almost the same relation between edges length in space and edge length in UV space. This may be useful for making real things - cloth and soft toys. So, this relaxation type minimizes the edge-length trash.

Relax

Relax faces to decrease square trash. But you should know that decreasing square trash leads to additional stretching, so you should choose what is better to you - square trash or stretching

HD Contract

Contract hidden area.

To ABF

(Angle Based Flattening). Use ABF for unwrapping selected islands. Is best suited for organic meshes. ABF tries to minimize angular trash at the cost of the square trash.

To GU

Unwrap selected islands with 3DCoat's proprietary Globally Uniform UV unwrapping method. This method minimizes the polygons square trash but may lead to bigger angular trash.

To LSCM

(Least Squares Conformal Maps). Use LSCM for unwrapping selected islands.

To Planar

Use planar projection for unwrapping selected islands

To Strip

This method is intended to unwrap the stripe of polygons into the straight line.

Copy UV

Copy island to clipboard (use CTRL+C). You may select other island and paste it there. In so way you will exactly put one island over other one

UV Settings

Setup islands packing area and minimal distance between islands

Clear Clusters

Clear all UV cluster (also called UV islands) and seams

Clear Seams

This option clears all seams from the object

Auto Seams

Clicking this option creates all the required seams automatically, using a best guess approach based on the shape of the object. Newly created seams can still be selected or removed using the 'Mark seams' work mode

Unify UV

Move all faces to the current UV-set. If need you may delete remaining empty UV-sets using "Delete unused UV-Sets".

Unwrap

Fit all islands onto the UV map

AutoMap

This is exactly same method of unwrapping as used in import dialog for automapping. It is planar mapping with test of clusters self-intersection. This method is most stable and eats any (even nonmanifold) geometry but creates too many islands.

Pack UV

Pack current set of clusters on the UV-plane. No unwrapping performed, only packing will be done. Press CTRL to shuffle

Shuffle/Pack

Pack the current set of UV islands in the UV set, overlapping islands will be shuffled. No unwrapping performed, only packing will be done

PackUV2

Pack UV islands without rotation and flipping. They will be only scaled and moved to for better packing. Press CTRL to shuffle

Auto Scale

Auto scale all islands to have equal proportion between square in space and square in UV-set

Upd. Islands

Update island connectivity. It you have marked or erased several seams on the mesh UV-Map will not be broken into islands immediately. You need to update islands to split or connect existing islands

Restore UV

Restore the UV's from the mesh in Paint room. This synchronizes both rooms

Apply UV-set

Apply the currently defined UV-set to the model

Save

Save UV information to a file. This option saves the marked or unmarked seam and cluster information in the current scene so it can be edited later. It does not export the final UV-Map. Use the 'Import/Export textures' dialogue in the File menu for that

Load

Load previously saved UV information from a file

Save Contour

This command allows to save contour in real scale as EPS or DXF for further laser cutting. Length of lines corresponds to geometrical length. It is helpful if you want to cut shape using laser cutter and glue parts together
