  1. Hey there Carlosan... I did as you suggested and updated again, and ALL is seemingly well now. No more crashes, although it did once, the first time I opened it. But now i'm retopo-ing and baking and everything, and all seems much more stable. I think these must have been long-standing bugs, as I hit these stumbling blocks a year or more ago, when I began this project. I'm so happy it's been fixed though, now time to upgrade our licenses i think.
  2. I have updated to the latest version, and am still getting crashes randomly during UV-unwrapping. I managed to retopo using the Instant Meshes method, as it also crashes when doing the retopo. I wonder if Andrew would like a copy of my model, so he can trace the problem better? Although it is large (600MB) it'd be a nightmare to load into a debug mode I'd have thought.
  3. I'll update this week and try again. I'm using the demo at the moment, and I'm really struggling with crashes. Will give it a go though, thank you.
  4. I'm getting crashes using the Autoretopo too. On PC, Win 10 64-bit and the latest version. 2021.70. The instant meshes retopo works, but every item on this object seems to make Autoretopo crash out. Is this a known thing and is it likely to be fixed? I can supply my object, but it is quite a large file.
  5. One thing I'm a bit embarrassed to admit is: I didn't actually try loading a 'packed' texture, I just didn't see the option, so asked here. In fact, when you try and load a packed map, as Metalness/Roughness or other greyscale map. 3D Coat recognises that the map has R/G & B channels, so actually asks which channel you want to use Thank goodness the developers of 3d Coat are smarter than I am
  6. Hey there Yousung, This looks perfect, I have never seen that function before. I will give this a go We're also looking at using Mari, but my early tests in there with Substance assets was appalling. The 3d Viewport was very slow. You've given me hope that 3d Coat might be a possible replacement for Substance, this is brilliant news Thank you
  7. Hey there, We're currently looking for alternative PBR painting apps, as Substance has now been bought by Adobe and their licensing schemes are draconian. I'm currently trying to load up my Substance assets and reapply the textures, but cannot seem to find a way to do it manually. There are options to import: Textures, Import Color/Albedo and Import Roughness, but what I require is a way to import an ORM map, or an 'Occlusion,Roughness,Metallic' map. These are 'packed' images, that use the Red, Green and Blue channels respectively, but I can't see a way inside of 3D coat, to split these up from the single map. I have tried creating my own Smart material as well, but again, there aren't any options to choose R,G, or B as the output choice. If I'm completely honest, it would be lovely if the 'Texture/Import Albedo,Roughness,Occlusion' were all possible to do manually, using the layers panel, but I don't know if this is possible? I'd love to be able to create a new layer, choose my texture as a UV fill, then Red channel, Blue Channel, or Green and that's it... but the hardcoded UI for Color/Albedo, Roughness, Metalness etc seems a bit rigid. I might be missing something, or another method and would love to know how other people might suggest doing these things. Thanks in advance for any suggestions! Cheers, T
  8. Great news... Thank you. Do you know if this will mean the new lwo format will be supported too?
  9. Do you think 3dCoat will get updated to work with 2018 lwo file formats?? Currently having to export them as 2015 objects, but ideally it would be cool if 2018 could be supported, along with its new PBR shader. As far as I can tell, Python now fully supports writing materials etc. As that's how Oliver Hotz does his plugins. Thanks guys! Tim
  10. Hey Styler, Thanks for your reply. When you say, you made it work? What did you make work? The normal mapping in LW? Was there an issue with the flipped channel in the LW node editor, when exported from 3dcoat?
  11. Had a play... so far it's working great for me! I'm not 100% certain that the normal map is flipped in the correct way in the Nodal editor though... anyone else's thoughts?
  12. No problem... just wondered how it was coming along
  13. So... what's the status on the Applink at the moment? Any joy??
  14. Hmmm... just been trying this at home, and it all works fine! Must be some lockdowns on the OS at work. Does anyone here know how 3d coat communicates or 'watches' the folders for importing automatically? I can ask for this to be unblocked if it's a firewall issue
  15. Hey Phil! You have to have the Python console open to see the output from any button press in the plug in. If you go to utilities then under the python heading I think you can load the console from there
