  1. Thanks, didn't notice the 'keep UV' setting. That makes the difference.
  2. This is a great tut but it doesn't show the maps. Can the software place each material in its own map automatically upon import?
  3. Hi everyone, kinda new to the program even though I've had it awhile. I want to texture a poly heavy model that contains about 150 materials. I'm trying to get the program to place each material in its own UV map. Right now it's cramming all geometry into a single UV map. Anyone care to guide a complete Noob to Shangri-La on this topic? Every tut I'm seeing has a simple model using a single map. If you have a link to a tut that gets me there, I'll take that also!
  4. OK, 0 degrees doesn't show any change; however, changes greater than zero works correctly. I've got it working now. Thanks guys!
  5. OK, I've adjusted the setting to 0 degrees just to see what happens and I still get the pin cushion effect. Any other recommendations that I might try or is it something that may not be functioning correctly?
  6. Sorry, I mean I can't locate the Auto Smoothing option in the tool panel.
  7. Looking for it, can't remember where I saw that setting. Still getting used to the interface.
  8. Actually, that answers the texture size question, thanks! How about the smoothing issue? I've got 'no smoothing' selected on mesh import for per pixel painting but still getting max smoothing.
  9. 1. When I import a model and select the map size (2K for example) and later realize I need a larger map size than the 2K is there a way to select a larger map size (4K for example) without reimporting the model? 2. Smoothing appears to be maxed out causing the geometry to appear "pin cushioned". Smoothing is set to none when importing but the effect is still there upon import. What am I doing wrong?
  10. It was the texture map size... imported it at 8k and it looks like the preview. Thank you! Your designation says novice but your advice has Jedi written all over it! Regards to your family. Richard
  11. Hi Everyone, I'm brand new to 3D Coat and I'm having a little trouble with the render room. I've included a couple of screen grabs to illustrate the situation. One grab is from the smart material preview and has very fine details displayed. The other is from the real time render that shows all detail muddled together and lost. I've not seen any settings in the render area that might affect the outcome. Can someone tell me if this is normal for the program or am I overlooking an adjustment?
