  1. Hey fellow 3d Coaters.

I'm working on a piece now and love how 3d Coat can EASILY make chains using the Curves tool with "chain" profile. I will actually have a lot of them (chains) in this sculpt.

Question now is... how would I retopo the chains? Autopo? Should I even bother in 3DC or should I just build the chains in my other app (LW Modeler)?

    Many thanks in advance.

  2. Thanks geothefaust! Appreciate it!

I sculpted him in pose in 3DC. Using the pose tool in 3DC made things so easy.

BTW dude... your work on all of the tutorials is tremendous. Keep up the great work!

(I learned a great deal from those vids)

I've been using autoretop for now just to get a quick and dirty mesh out for painting.

Since I do illustrations I don't really have to worry about topology for animations... yet (hahaha)

BUT I'm planning on changing that soon.

  3. @ Scott Padbury- I painted the beard and straw in Photoshop... the good ol' fashion way LOL. I have used Fibre Fx in Lightwave before and I DO like itbut render times were getting expensive and I had to get this done by deadline. The background was painted in photoshop as well.

@ Adamek- That is sooo hilarious. I would have never thought! CHUCK NORRIS!!!!! Too funny. I'll never be able to look at my piece the same way again. lmao. Could be his next movie... " Chuck Norris Goes Green."

@ digman I played around with different compositions for a while but this one seemed to work best for all of the elements. In Lightwave I setup up my camera with a wide angle lens that had a focal length around 10-12mm--just to give it a little fisheye look.

Thanks guys! Really appreciate the feedback.

  4. Lets say you have completed a sculpt with a complete set of textures, retopo and uvs. Is it possible to go back and create a new topology and assign it to your sculpt without having to rebake, remerge and repaint your textures?

    Many thanks in advance!
