  1. I'm not sure that I am using the 2 click Retopo tool correctly...I can't seem to click out a Quad anymore, they are always Tri's? Yes, I know that I can create a Quad by using Points but I so loved the Quad tool for doing this. Can someone hopefully help me to use this tool correctly, there isn't much in the pdf?
  2. Well I hear ya on the driver update, unfortunately 3dCoat is the reason why I updated because it stopped working. When I click on download and enter my email I get the v4.0.04B release I have to ask for earlier releases to get 4.0.11a. I have a mouse, keyboard and tablet plugged into the USB devices. Here's the thing when 3DCoat first opens it is soooo slow that it takes 7-14 seconds for it to realize I have clicked on any of the Toolbars, if I can get past that and open to Retopo or a Recent File it works just fine...no problems at all. It's only when it first opens and it is so incredibly slow and borkish. Thanks everyone for the suggestions, it sure would be great to get Coat working normally again.
  3. Finally found the config files I think (??): AppData/Roaming/Microsoft/Windows/StartMenu/Programs/3d-Coat Uninstalled, deleted those files and then performed a fresh install...I still have the same problem.

  5. I don't know what's going on but when I try and open 3DCoat now it just stalls and hangs...it used to work a couple of weeks ago. I tried uninstalling and installing the newest 4.0.04B and still the same thing. Updated my drivers, still the same thing. I have a Nividia GTX680 card and using Windows 7 x64 bit o.s. and opening 3DCoat OpenGL 64bit. Can anyone help or advise?

  7. I painted on my model and I can't find how to set the texture size for exporting? Or did I already screw this up and should have set the texture size befor I painted?? Thanks so much.
  8. I have a uv mapped model I am painting and have some flames on the hood, I want to paint on the fenders now but that uv map is right next to the hood...how do I mask the hood so I can freely paint on the fenders without it overlapping onto the hood? Thanks
  9. Thanks for your help. I figured out the erase tool issue, was my misunderstanding of the layers pallete.
  10. Is there a way to scale the brush or a loaded stencil along one axis?? Also while I am at it, when I use the erase tool while painting it erases my paint (which is good) but it also erases the underlying base texture I guess, so it looks like I am looking right through my model?? Thanks so much

  13. But I don't mean "can you paint materials?" I mean that when you create your UV Mapping can you grab islands and assign material i.d.'s to those islands, so if I were to open it up in a UV program I would see Groups and I would see Materials. Thanks!
  14. I have version 3.7.18F installed and am trying to use the topology Quads function and it isn't working like it used to...now instead of creating Quads it is creating Tri's. I am sure this is operator error on my part so if someone could tell me how to get the Quad creation function working again it would be most appreaciated. Thanks
  15. Okay, hopefully we can figure out what I am doing wrong...I appreciate all of your assistance. I import with NoScaling press Enter, it asks if I want to SnapToRefMesh I select "No" because I am just importing an Obj file, I select the Group/Tweak/SplitRings...then nothing.

  17. Can I import an obj file and add loops without retopologizing?
  18. Is there a function like Inset (inside of Max)? Where I select a polygon and create another polygon inside of it with the corners connected. Thanks

  20. So if I am in Retopo and have applied Symmetry to current layer, then I find a buggered area so I go back in to do some work but I can't really see, I want to delete half of my mesh and then once I am done apply symmetry to current layer again...how can I delete half of my mesh? Thanks!

  22. Is it possible to Relax just a selected layer and not the whole mesh?
  23. I use Retopo a lot, so symmetry is activated also and am now just figuring out how to use UV Mapping tools from Retopo room, so my question is can I have symmetry activated while UV Mapping? That way when I select a loop seam it is automatically mirrored on the other side. Do I have to apply symmetry to layers in retopo room first? Thanks so much!
