  1. Hallo,

    Hi,

sorry for writing in german yesterday (my fault to much beer!)

This is my first head-modeling with 3D-Coat. First step was the raw modeling with Maya 2009, 2. step was

the detail modeling with 3D-Coad (Voxel) and the painting with 3D-Coat. Last step rendering with Mentalray.

    Regards

  2. Great models!!!

I know what you mean when saying you like the 3DC renderer. Is surprising good, especially when using 3 lights set up and some AO. Its important to have a decent render preview when sculpting.

You should try voxel sculpture from scratch for organic forms like these. Its 3DCs real power IMO.

You right, the voxel sculpture was the reasom to buy 3D-Coat. Before i had use Mudbox for Sculpting but 3D-Coat is much better and much cheaper (i love the Voxel Sculpting).

I have start 3D-Coat and everything work all options are absolute logical and easy to use.

  3. OK but how? You dropped it to voxel room? Retopo etc?

    Hi,

    1. step was a simple little raptor created with Maya 2009 (no details just the raw body)

    2. step was to export the raptor to 3D-Coat as OBJ and sculpting with the Voxel-modus.

    3. step was create the skin with the painting mode at 3D-Coat (all is painted no textur)

Color and Bump (was mi first object without a normal texture)

    4. step was the rendering with Mental-Ray and 3D-Coat also.

I am very supriced about the render quality in 3D-Coat, it was very easy with a camera

focus (a bit difficult with Mental-Ray :)) and the light is very soft and the objects very

sharp, soft but clear (i like the 3D-Coat kind of rendering)

The next step is to create a landscape for the Raptor with trees, plants and a bit dust.

But this step i do with Maya and Mental-Ray.
