I went through the process a few more times, trying different options at random. After exporting two objs with different polycount, UV mapping them individually and painting the high ress one, I used paintroom->Textures->Texture Baking Tool and got the output I required.

Thanks for the info, though I can't seem to get the process right. When I Autopo a test-cylinder to 2000 and 500 polys, I can only unwrap one of them. I can export/save both obj's but with no uv mapping I don't see what good that'll do.
So I'm stuck before I even get started.

Hi,
I'm fairly new to 3D Coat, and I am confused by the Sculpt -> Autopo -> Paint workflow.
How would I go about painting my model once, and then exporting multiple OBJs with meshes of varying detail level?
What I am trying to achieve are game assets with serval LODs, without having to re-paint the same object multiple times.

After experimenting a bit, I think I prefere the results of Retopo via Decimation in most scenarios. Thanks again.
