Not sure if I'm overreacting but this experience has left a very sour taste in my mouth. I Upgraded my license on 21.05.2024 which gives me a 1 year free upgrades period until 21.05.2025. The only Linux built available for my license is from 3 months prior to my date of purchase. A couple of weeks of back and forth with customer support was very insightful. Apparently it's completely reasonable for there to not be a single build available during my license period because Linux isn't a priority.   There isn't a single linux build available for nearly 16 months straight (26.02.2024 - 19.06.2025)?  I'm expected to purchase another upgrade and hope the "non-priority" platform continues getting support? The bug I reported when I last tried to get back into 3DCoat from almost a year ago still exists in the latest 2026 trial version I tried. The other thread asking about the lack of Linux support got locked and the way this topic has been handled has even caused your most active and helpful community members to leave. Looks like I'm not the only one experiencing a less than ideal experience. I wasn't expecting everything to be perfect but I don't think that it's unreasonable to expect at least some level of support. I really don't want to continue giving money to Adobe but at least Substance Painter is working great on my end via Steam . I truly want to continue using and supporting 3DCoat but I'm not seeing any signs of Linux being anything more than an afterthought.  Maybe I'm just overreacting.

Is there a way to adjust the intensity of a baked normal map? After baking, some artifacts have appeared. The original state looks better in some areas, so I want to hide the normal map in those specific areas. Adding a layer mask to the normal map doesn't seem to work. What should I do? The model appears to have triangular artifacts throughout, likely due to the low polygon count of the decimation. How do you avoid this or clean up the surface later? I'd like to keep the polygon count as low as possible. Baking in Substance Painter doesn't produce this problem, but I like 3DCoat's UI, so I'd like to know if there's a way to adjust it.

Using 3DC 2025.17 all day to manual UV a model I created. However UV tools UV Path, Edge Loops and maybe a few others are no longer on left hand panel. They disappeared after applying the UV set. I tried restore workspace to default, and nothing happened. I also restarted 3DC and the tools in the UV Room are still absent. I even tried a different 3D model after restarting 3DC. Sill missing! Any ideas? Cheers and many thanks... Kenmo

In 3DCoat (specifically 2024 and newer), extensions and addons are managed to extend functionality, allowing users to integrate custom scripts, shaders, tools, and content packages (.3dcpack).   Accessing Extensions (Windows Menu) To open the extension manager, go to the main menu and select: Windows > Panels > Extensions   Launch Extensions: Click the "Start" button within the panel. Auto-Launch: Check the box to have an extension launch automatically with 3DCoat. Requirements: Note that some extensions may require an active internet connection on the first launch to install necessary Python modules   Installing Extensions (.3dcpack) You can install extension packages, which may contain shaders, textures, alphas, smart materials, or scripts. Since 3DCoat 2024, there is a dedicated Addons menu for managing scripts.   Addons Menu: Follows the folder structure in the UserPrefs/Addons/ folder. Customization: You can add your own scripts, submenus, and create redistributable packages directly within this menu.   Scripting and Technical Details Location: User extensions are generally located in the user's documents folder, specifically UserPrefs/Scripts/cExtension. Python: The system supports both CoreAPI and Python scripts. Troubleshooting: If an extension requires a Python module not present, you may see a red message in the status bar during installation. Blender AppLink: The io_coat3D module is a common extension; if it fails, check the user preferences and the extension's official site for updates.

I see. I hope it will be improved in a future update. I'll also try using FBX. Thank you for letting me know!

For now your walkthrough is the only way. FBX import, try importing as binary or ascii, it can make a difference

Hello. Regarding the “Sculpt Model” window for importing, is there no way to import FBX or OBJ objects in bulk here? Other than clicking the “+” button next to the thumbnail to load them, it seems I can only import them one at a time via drag-and-drop. As for brush alphas, it appears I can open Explorer and load them in bulk, which feels more intuitive and is ideally what I’d like to do. After looking through past topics, I finally managed to do it by creating a folder at :\Program Files\3DCoat\UserPrefs\Models\SculptModels and importing the OBJ files along with thumbnail images named with the suffix _preview, but I felt this was far too tedious. It requires creating and renaming a large number of dedicated thumbnails. Also, this might be a bug, but I couldn’t import FBX files using any of the methods mentioned above. When I try to import them via the + button, they don’t appear, and when I add them via File Explorer, the polygon count shows as 0. It would be incredibly helpful if I could do kitbashing in 3DCoat, but this issue is making the process quite frustrating. I’d really appreciate any advice you can offer!

I'm seeking a live and virtual tutor to get me kicked off into 3D Coat.  I want to pull in STL files and modify before print.  My STL files are BJD Dolls that are sliced into individual files and I need to bring in as a single for to modify such as resize and change some features prior to sending to 3d printer
