I woke up this morning with a fresh mind. I guess with my upcoming major surgery this week there was a bit too much swimming around in my pea brain.
I did as suggest in the 3DC forum and deleted the python 3.8.10 folder (" E:\MyDocs\3dcoat2026\python-3-8-10)
And it magically worked!
hi there, might be hard to catch in my video but I use "extra detail" w/ ctrl shift when in voxel mode, then switch to surface, then smooth
your brush settings look like you are not using a brush mode that tesselates the geometry
Previous it was working fine with 2026.01 and Blender 5.0 (portable install of Blender). After the upgrade to 2026.07 it stopped working.
Blender is exporting the objects to the defined folder
C:\Users\kenmo\Documents\3DC2Blender\ApplinkObjects
But nothing appears in 3DCoat when I send an object to the UV, Paint or Retopo rooms.
Prior to the upgrade it always ran very smoothly with no issues.
Last year when I upgraded I had a similar issue and was able to resolve it using the tips on this forum.
None of these tips worked this time.
But after trying for 4 hours I give up.
Not sure why 3DC upgrades have to create these issues. Love 3DC but the upgrade process needs to be smoother.
Any suggestions?

I'm still having a major problem: I really can't figure out how to EDIT a mesh? Can someone please tell me how to edit a mesh I've imported?
I'm not trying to be negative, but the system is extremely confusing. I can't seem to "select" anything, an edge, vert or polygon. I have no idea how to "expose" a mesh to make it editable and actually move elements around.
I'm in the modeling room, and I have a simple mesh imported. But when I click on the vert/edge/poly buttons nothing happens. When I use the "select" tool, nothing happens - even when I have the right mesh selected in the sculpt tree.
I would really like to do more in 3d coat, but I'm really hitting a wall.

As to the second method though, I don't appear to have that under the Selected category. This, again, is with 2025.17. I have Faces selected, but Invert doesn't appear there; I only have Invert Hidden.
Painting over a single square with one face, got this result. Some squares dividing the UV space and a diagonal line appear.
The effect is more noticeable if you select View > Show Displaced Mesh
To invert your current face selection in the 3DCoat Retopo room, open the Select tool, ensure Faces mode is active, and click Inv. Selected in the top bar options.
Select the Select Tool from the left-hand panel.Ensure your filter in the top bar is set to Faces.
Make your initial selection on your mesh.
Go to the top horizontal settings bar and click Inv.
Selected (Inv. within the current retopo group) or Inv. All Selected (Inv. across all groups).

Access the Selected Category on the left-hand tool panel within the UV workspace.

Is there an option, tool, or shortcut to invert a selection of faces? I've tried looking through the list of tools and the Edit, View, and Mesh tabs, but couldn't see an option. Unless there's a specific shortcut?

In 3DCoat, pressing the V key (the default hotkey for the Eyedropper) can be used to pick a color in two ways:
Single-tap: Selects the exact flat color directly from your 3D model.
Double-tap (or hovering and tapping again): Samples the color from the screen space, which includes lighting, shadows, and post-processing effects.
