  1. Hi Andrew, Is there any plan to upgrade from CUDA 3.0 to the latest CUDA 3.2? This could enable 3D-Coat to be used on all available cores instead of just 2/3 of the cores used by CUDA 3.0/3.1. cheers
  2. hi Andrew, Just to inform that there's a message pops up when 3D-Coat (Linux) is started; "Unable to run the command specified. The file or folder file:///home/sergyi/Documents/1.txt does not exist.". Not sure if it actually interferes with any 3D-Coat operations though. Regards, Faizol UPDATE : redownloaded 3D-Coat Linux 3.5.06C on Saturday, and the pop up message is no longer there. Thanx.
  3. Hi Andrew, On Linux, only driver 195.36.24 and above will detect GTX 480. Sergyi has posted a question on Nvidia forum with no replies. (Link: http://developer.nvidia.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4540). Is it possible to propagate this problem to Nvidia as well? I haven't used 3d-coat in quite a while now, really hope to be able to use it again. Thanks. Best Regards, Faizol
  4. Hi Peter B, are you using Nvidia's card? If so, may I know what's your driver's version? I'm using Fedora 11 with the latest Nvidia driver (195.36.24 - system summary in my signature), and haven't had the luck to use 3D-Coat at all. I was told that Linux's 3D-Coat doesn't use CUDA just yet, so it's irrelevant of the CUDA's framework that got installed on my system. The bad thing is that other application runs just fine on my system. regards, Faizol
  5. actually, I did supply my system spec the first time I reported this, as u can check from http://www.3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=4992&view=findpost&p=41030 (post #332). That's a very common standard in reporting any errors, and I fully understand that. Thanx for the reminder tho.
  6. Hi Andrew, 3D-Coat still crashes on me. Does it actually have anything to do with the driver I installed on my system? I already deleted cuda folder. Can anyone here who uses Fedora 12 or Fedora 11 and nvidia's driver version 195.36.15 let us know if 3D-Coat doesn't have any problem running? Thanx. Regards, Faizol
  7. just like one can't compare Hash Animation Master with Softimage or Houdini, the same principles apply for 3d sculpting software. The underlying technology is vastly different between the products mentioned. To be fair, you should at least defined the target user and how the features advertised would help the targeted users. For example, you can't go to Hash Animation Master's forum and complain the lack of procedural bone setup just like in houdini for you to do your animation/rigging job. That being said, 3d-coat is uniquely positioned to cater to specific target markets within the specific production pipeline. The obj export out so far is better than any other 3d sculpting software. What use of fast interactive and gazillion of subdivision if u cant export it out and use it in your animation package? Unless of course if you just would like to have everything rendered in the 3d sculpting software itself. For the features advertised, the voxel sculpting technology and the ease of use, I say that 3d-coat is at least as comparable to the much more expensive 3d sculpting software out there. #edit: I don't really experience lagging in user interactivity until 5-6 or above of subdivision iterations, by which usually that means I did unnecessary stuff and almost guarantee that i have messed up my model altogether.
  8. Hi all, is the Linux version linked on the first page is updated to .03 already? Many many thanx. regards, Faizol ps: kudos to the development team. You guys are unbelievably fast!!
  9. Thanx for the great news. I'll spread the news to other 3d app users. Is there any form somewhere for mailing list on availability of the Linux version?
  10. I am voting for a Linux port. Most of established studios have Linux in their pipeline. Some of the most visible animation studios in Spain have Linux only platform. I am setting up my pipeline around Linux only. If u have Linux version, like efflux said, your market can only grow, especially since your competitors dont have any Linux versions even though many of their customers asked for the versions. Your price package is more attractive compared to your competitors, and your software received good reviews everywhere, so I think having a Linux version will help to grow your market even more. Anyway, just a thought, why not using some framework like QT or wxwidgets for example to make cross platform products? It'll be easier to support the products then. Plus if some developer doesnt like the MOC idea from QT, one can always implement call event methods readily available from various library, like the ones in Boost, and just use QT to abstract the GUI part? I imagine that the engine is already 100% or close to be platform independent, right? Anyway this is my first post here. Sorry if indeed some cross platform toolkit is actually used. If that's the case, then coupled with market growth on Linux platform, users request for this product and products from your competitors on Linux version (and the absence of any sculpting products on Linux), I think it supports even more for a Linux version of 3DC. cheers, Faizol
