Member kev00 Posted January 15, 2018 Member Report Share Posted January 15, 2018 I'm very new to 3d coat, but can anyone tell me what is causing this dithering effect (scratches and lines) on the surface? I'm sure it's something simple. Thanks.
Advanced Member Falconius Posted January 15, 2018 Advanced Member Report Share Posted January 15, 2018 (edited) The shader you are using has cavity settings, meaning it picks out dips in the surface in a different colour (you can alter this by right clicking and selecting edit shader settings). It has those mechanical looking dips and line because of the way the program makes a surface over voxels. Things to mitigate this could be smoothing (smooth all), increasing the resolution, or switching to surface mode. You'll find that if you use the chisel tool or cut off tool in surface mode it doesn't give striations like it does in voxel (it will however maintain the poly surface of previous striations, so in some places you might have difficulty in getting rid of them after voxelization. the live clay tools actually alter the polygons on the surface and you may be able to play around with them to fix this problem, try playing with the "clean clay" tool).
