  1. Are there any benefits from CUDA versions of 3DC? I can't see the difference.

    there is a significant increase in some brushes speed in voxel mode ex: Grow (surface mode is not affected)

    also if "cuda smooth boost" from voxel menu is activated it gives a pretty strong kick to smoothing speed in voxel mode,

    meaning you can use larger radius before experiencing bottleneck.

    And it might also speed up some voxel operation here and there that Im not aware of.

  2. There is a problem with Textures->Adjust->Hue/Saturation/Lightness with Preview enabled. At least when painting over vertices.

    The Cancel button commits the changes and the operation is not undoable (you need to reload the scene in order to undo the HSL).

    All changes that you make to HSL parameters will stack. This means that if you have enabled the preview and reduced lightness to 75% the change will be applied to the texture. If, without closing the HSL window, you will raise this parameter back to 100%, the texture will get darker and darker the more you change the lightness. This applies to all HSL parameters.

    I already reported on mantis and sent a file to reproduce....

    Maybe its working on his side when testing,I dont know.... :unsure:

    - Bright PBR fill preview fixed

    - In z-up mode choosing reference images corresponds to changed axis names.

    - Color swatches window appearance and RMB problems fixed.

    - Problem with (trial) in the header solved

    - Removed little plane-cut spots in Undercuts tool.

    - fixed scale&quality prblems in bas-relief tool

     

    Bright PBR fill preview seems fixed but a weird new issue has appeared (i dont know if it is related to fix)

    When using "Hue Saturation lightness" from texture menu, some object get different hue from the others....what is even stranger is that the hue change to that object is applied even if I press Cancel button. .....Even Undo is not able to restore the previous color.

    (you can reproduce using same file as Bright pbr preview issue)

  4. About shaders:

    We removed many shaders to concentrae attention on PBR, but if some shaders are really important, I may restore.

    Lamblight is a really good shader to get  nice clay look and it has pseudo-sub surface scattering so its really good for skin too.

    (until we get true sss shader of course).

     

    Also are you able to reproduce superbright PBR preview bug mentioned on last page (page 51)by me ,Javis and others if you need a file tell me...I'll send one (its a little big 800mb but it was originally much bigger,I deleted a few objects to make it smaller...) 

  5. Andrew, screen still flickers after each  LC/Rs strokes after a while on my side(BETA 16),

    I cannot sculpt with screen flickering its too distracting :(

    hope you can reproduce issue before releasing 4.5....I wish I could help you reproduce but there is really no special steps....

    only clue is that It does not happens in 12A so it is specifically because of something changed in build 13...

  6. Oh.  I didn't realise work on 3DCoat had slowed down that much.   I haven't frequented these boards for a long time (though we still use 3DC at our studio daily)  and from the outside it still seemed like the production pace was still frenetic.

     

    I still love this program though, and we're quite close to adopting using it to paint PBR Materials.  It still needs a bit of refinement but enjoying how 'on target' painting is now.

    Work on 3Dcoat has far from slowed down....development speed is still frenetic :)...its just that raytraced AO is  a feature Andrew does not seem to want to tackle (maybe its much more complicated to implement than we think) 

  7. I noticed that in 13a, haven't tried 14 enough to see if it's still there.  But at one point it seemed as though the app would flash every brush stroke.

    yes,thats it!! on my side it happens mostly when using LC brushes or SF mode brushes with RemoveStrtching on.

    It happens both in DX and GL...occurence is slightly lower in beta14 compared to 13A but its still very frequent ,,,

     

    thanx,at least now I know its 3DCoat's fault and I wont try to change graphic card drivers or run stupid hardware diags for nothing.
