  1. Dwayne Ferguson is supposedly working on one, that focuses on Illustration using 3DC...maybe he can chime in about it's progress.

Yes, I started writing a book a few months ago but the changes to the app happen so quickly, half of what I wrote is already out of date. lol. Sooo I'm putting the book on hold til' things slow down. Andrew updates the app faster than my fingers can type. One day:)

  2. Where are you located, Dwayne? With the economy slowing things down, I'm taking some (storyboarding and Maya) classes at Mt.SAC (just east of LA), and was looking to start an Intership by the first of the year.

BTW, I don't know how you do it...all the work, and books and courses for VTC and such, on top of learning all the different programs you do. Enough to make a man's head spin off its base. :)

haha, thanks man. I've always had a super work ethic and hating sleep helps. Even as a child I refused to take a nap because I thought it was a waste of time. I also reward myself by playing equally as hard as I work and will take a day off to play video games once in a while. lol. Please send me some pics of your stuff at the email above. Talk to ya soon:)

  3. Hi all,

I'm currently looking for two interns to work on various projects my studio is producing. One, the Tell-Tale Heart, starring the voice of Fresh Prince of Bel Air's Janet Hubert (Aunt ViV) is a 3D animated retelling of the classic tale. But we're working on a truck load of other 3D and animated goodness. Is there pay? Aye, matey. A small stipend is being offered as well as credits on the project(s), letter of recommendation, and national exposure.

What am I looking for? Well, the ideal candidate(s) would rock at modeling and texturing in 3D-Coat and (if the fates will it) experience with Maya animation and rigging. Those of you who know me on the forums know I posted a few video tutorials and contributed to the 3D-Coat manual. And I have a shrine to Andrew in my house. I mean, who doesn't?

My studio has been in animation for years, having art directed the hit TV series Mutant League and Black Zero: Mercenary Ant. We also publish comic books, technology books and other cool things like Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers and Transformers books.

How do you contact that which may not really be human? Right here or by sending me a link to your work at diehardstudio@gmail.com

Visit my site at www.diehardstudio.com to see the wondrous mayhem we produce every day. Our clients include: Sony Music, Prentice Hall, Prudential, PSE&G, Macmillan Publishing, and a whole lot of other people we kinda like:)

Thanks and I look forward to working with you. Am I cool to work with? Can I get a heck yeah?

  4. Pixologic's Marketing machine. They could promote a stale, moldy slice of bread. They use this "What if you could" and "Freedom" theme for every new feature. They also use sped up time-lapse footage to make it appear to be ridiculously fast. Well "What If" Andrew did the same thing for every new feature he added? I suggest fighting fire with fire.

I think maybe Andrew should put Javis, Dwayne Ferguson and perhaps Leigh (JLB), who has the best voice to do so, in my opinion...on the job to create a similar marketing video that follows a similar theme...."Imagine if you could...combine the freedom of CG Clay, using cutting edge voxel technology, with industry leading Texture Painting, Retopology, and UV layout tools (I understand Andrew is working on upgrading this)...all in one extremely affordable application?" And have it incorporate fast time Lapse footage as well...with screen shots showing the UI customization abilities along with other features with a high "coolness" factor. Once done, place it on the mainpage, so every visitor can see in a presentation form...."Why 3DC?"

Give Pixologic a heavy dose of their own medicine...A good marketing video that can also be linked to and added on YouTube, Vimeo, etc., lets the community spread the message, without heavy advertising costs.

What say ye, ladies and gentlemen?...Andrew?

    Lol! (Dwayne reads from script):

Imagine a world where you can imagine worlds from your imagination? Imagine creating creations based on creating things from imagining from your imagination....but only faster! 3D-Coat...imagine the creation of better creations from your imagination. Now available for Mac, Windows, Linux and whatever platform is in your mind.

  5. Here is another model I been working.

The modeling was done entirely in Blender and of course the Textures in 3d coat.

I have a Problem with the performance of the program when you are painting with Per pixel, It Start Faster and then It becoming Slow , I Press Alt and enter and Speed ups again but become slow later

    .

It was using 3d-Coat-V3-00-06-CUDA64 with windows xp 64 but i need to try the 07 update.

Dude, I totally love the model. I can't wait to see what you do next!

  6. I don't use maya either, but if I did I would want this video. Very organized and you have a nice clear "radio voice" for this kind of thing.

@3Dioot try getting a pop filter. They're pretty cheap, or for the same effect try stretching some pantyhose over a wire loop and place it between you and the mic. Granted that's a little hard if the mic's on your head.

Thanks guys. I get that radio sound by using an AKG mic. Here's a link to it:

  7. Thanks for all the comments folks. I'll try implementing many of the suggestions in my next render. I'm creating a custom alpha for the toes, working on the tail, etc. All of these lightning storms in my neck of the woods are driving me wacky (though many would say it's too late on that front, since I was born wacky).

  8. Very nice!

The last shot has a lot of character. He looks like he's about to dish out some. ^_^

    3dioot

Thanks! I appreciate that. Yeah, I try to do characters that have attitude problems. lol. One time a client asked me to do 4 Pocahontas coloring books. Drawing all those cute animals made my insides twist up. I'm still in therapy from that assignment.

  9. Howdy folks!

I thought I'd have some voxel fun and model and texture my studio mascot. He's a tough lil' elephant named Hannibal. The style is based on the Adobe Illustrator version of him. I posted that in here somewhere below as well. Here are a couple of screenshots. I'm still playing with the textures and lighting. I started in 3D-Coat, and rendered in Maya. I'm experimenting with HDRI lighting in Maya at the moment. The composite was done in Photoshop with color correction and Levels.

Next I'll add the tattoo, the tail and some mist from the ice. Where'd I put that coffee? lol.

    See ya!

  10. I think you're on to something. :good: Since everyone loves to hate on Autodesk, I thought that had to be it...but yeah, I hear the MAC version was rather buggy.

I don't know how Andrew does it, but maybe we'll soon see him on the History Channel...the show "Modern Marvels," revealing that his real secret is....bananas!

That's right....bananas and coffee. How else could you keep a room full of Code Monkeys going full throttle and happy? :pardon:

I bet that is indeed the truth! The government won't be able to release the intel for another 40 years though, you know how silly governments are.

  11. You didn't know?...my new SpacePilot has a command key for that...twist the knob to adjust brew strength :D

    http://www.3dconnexion.com/

Cough...Auto-Cough...Desk-Cough. :pardon: Wonder who that could be?

Quoted for agreement...his avatar certainly paralyzes evil-doers with fear!

Haha, it's not Autodesk I'm talking about. It's another company...The crowd grows silent as the contestant takes another guess at the answer...shhhhh.

  12. I don't know if it's relevant enough to mention during the training, but one of the things I love most about 3DC is that it's the ONLY sculpting application that supports 3DConnexion devices (Space Pilot/Explorer/Navigator). I just recently bought one, and you never want to go back to the old way...like going from a Kia to a Lexus, IMHO. Just one of the things that makes Andrew and this application so unique...might be a handy nugget to mention to new users :good:

Sounds very intriguing. I use a wacom tablet for pretty much everything (I'm still trying to program it to make coffee) but I'll definitely look into talking about those devices. Andrew is most definitely a big part of why I love this app. If only other developers actually talked to their users. As a Mac user, there is one company, who will remain nameless, that made me feel like we didn't matter to them. Andrew and the 3DC team rock. We need Andrew action figures with kung fu grip!

  13. This is great! I've been planning on using 3D-Coat in my illustrating (as soon as I've learned it well enough) and hope to get into full-time illustration soon. I'll definitely be getting your book :yahoo:

Illustration is a fun industry. Clients will drive you insane but that's the price us mercenaries have to pay. lol. I hope you enjoy the book:)
