  1. "Freeze" does not work with "Voxel" mode...
  2. Hi, I wonder how to do this: Imagine a model of a car. Is it possible to get it in a file with animations, which works in a powerpoint presentation? I am not thinking of a movie file. I know that I can import 3D objects in Acrobat 3D and get a .pdf in which I can spin and turn it in all directions. But how about other animations like spinning wheels or switching the head lights on and off, increasing and decreasing the (background) illumination? Ok, PP is not mandatory...
  3. Yes, that's right, and it works - but it is not really easy to align these structures within 3D coat, but in modo it is ok...
  4. OK, what I mean is that I have a single object in an .obj file (after importing, it is a single volume). Imagine the model of a hand, with only almost no space between the fingers. I need to smooth the surface of the fingers from all sides, but the cursor always jumps from one finger to the other... If I use the "hide function", I can hide the other fingers until I have just left one single finger in the field of view - but the cursor does see the hidden structures - so it does not help me. And I wonder if it is possible to tell the cursor NOT to jump to the hidden structures....
  5. OK, I think I am blind - where do I find the automatical procedures?? :-) Torsten
  6. OK, I tried it again. And, in principle it works, but: the scale is changed dramatically! If I open all files in modo, the original ones as well as the ones imported into 3d coat, I "cannot see" the original ones anymore... That is, they are so small compared to the others, that I have to zoom in heavily to see them. Or, better to say, I have to zoom out a lot to see the modified versions... A structure 1 m in length originally will be 120 m in length after the processing in 3d coat...
  7. I tried it - I put two large, thin boxes at the sides of the structures and - 3d coat crashed! The file(s) got too big! The number of polygones skyrocked even more... "Fatal error - you should increase the amount of memory..." Well, I will try it again tomorrow.
  8. Hi, If I import an .obj file with lets say 200k polygones and just use e.g. "flatten" for a short time, the number of polygones goes up to 2 millions (if I export the object). (Right now I import it to modo and then I just decrease the number of polygones to 10%.) There is this "inc. res." increase resolution function, but why is there (beside smooth) not a "decrease resolution" function? Or did I miss it?
  9. Hi, I tried the "hide" function, but I noticed that it just hides objects from my view, but not from the tools I am using? Is that right? So, if I want to flatten a structure hidden behind another structre I am not able to get there? At least the cursor ist jumping here, there and everywhere, but not where I need it...
  10. I add a picture to show what I mean: It is a simple example: I created a cube with modo, saved it as .obj, imported it into 3d coat, saved it again as .obj. Then I opend it with modo again. As you can see: the coordinates are changed...
  11. Hi, I try the demo version of 3d Coat right now. I have several files (.obj) with 3d data. They belong to a single data set. I need to do some heavy surface work on them, and I think that the voxel sculpting in 3d coat is really cool and helping me a lot! BUT If I save the files in .obj (or .lwo) and open them in 3d coat, some of them are not in the right position anymore. That is, if I import two or three into the same space, they are not e.g. in parallel to each other anymore, but they are merged into each other. Probably they are centroid at 0,0,0. If I just open the single files with 3d coat and save them as .obj again, and import them into modo again, they are merged there too! So, this is not really helpful... I mean, 3d coat is nice to sculpture the surface of my really difficult surfaces, but afterwards they don't fit well to each other anymore. Just imagine a 3d skeleton and a 3d blood vessel from one person, not aligned well anymore... Does not look that well, right? So, is it possible to get the old .obj coordinates back????
