  1. Hi,everyone.

This is the second time I suggest this king of feature.

I know 3dcoat's voxel mode is very powerful, but the traditional polygon still very important in some area.

If it is possible to integrate Sclupt room and Voxel room will be great, but I think it will be a little hard.

As the voxel room have surface mode now,I think it's very possible to do something similar.

the surface mode is polygon mode, and very fast because it did not need re-calculate the voxel surface,

So,if we have all the merge tool (merge from file, merge as pen, merge from retopo room and so on )in suface mode,

we can do something like 3dsmax's object paint without worry the shape lose in low voxel sample, and possible can store the uv ,texture and vertex color.

    (3ds Max 2011 - New Features - Objectpaint)

It can change the workflow in 3dcoat !

start in voxel mode -> retopo(like optimize ) --> merge to voxel surface mode as final model with lower polycount ,and work with other voxel part

    or

combine models in surface mode --> sculpt in surface mode or turn to voxel mode to do more.

    It's really great feature ~

  2. http://www.3d-coat.com/wiki/index.php/13.1_FYI!

    8 x Bytes = 1 x Pixel

    1024 x 1024 = 1,048,576 pixels = 8,388,608 bytes = 8Mb

    2048 x 2048 = 4,194,304 pixels = 33,554,432 bytes = 32Mb

    4096 x 4096 = 16,777,216 pixels = 134,217,728 bytes = 128Mb

    8196 x 8196 = 67,108,864 pixels = 536,870,912 bytes = 512Mb

When looking for a new motherboard make sure it will support the new 6 Cores as well as SLI / Crossfire

    and double / tripple check the PCIE ports (x 16 + x 16 + x 8 + x 8) at least.

    Hi, I want to ask why 3DC use 8 x Bytes = 1 x Pixel ?

    a 8bit RGBA image just use 4 bytes/pixel,

Is 3DC use 16bit texture in paint room ?

  3. Hi,everyone.

I love the snake tool in 3dcoat,it's very quick way to create muscle shape or some propers

But I have a problem is I can't draw it on surface.

As the sphere brush, we can un-check the "Draw from first point" to do that, and the muscle brush is make that as default.

I think it will very useful when I want put some chain or some thing on my character's body or cloth. <_<

  4. Just image if a character has a armor like this

    post-2037-1253181950_thumb.jpg

it looks like combined with 1000 box,

if we have polygon layer, we can clone with spline tool or snake tool, the polycount is 6000, and without lose any detail .

if we convert it to voxel, the armor will looks like chocolate in summer, and polycount is more than 60000 :D

  5. I'm a little confused. If you're just importing a box, what are you doing with it?

Maybe some decorate like star or medal.

Why I think that is because my character need some grenade, and I have a great lowpoly one(less then 1000),

if I convert it to voxel, I may need 5000 or more polygon to maintain it's shape, and it looks like a melted one.

But I just need transform the grenade on the belt if we have polygon layer
