hello...
I have 256 GB Ram, and when I try to load a 50 millions polys scanned mesh, it says out of memory, which is ridiculous... any view on this HUGE problem... ?

The clone tool in the paint room is broken,...Im trying to paint on a model using the translation option. When I sample using "cntrl" click and start painting I get nothing or it only paints in random areas.
do you have a voxel object in the voxel room...? try to hide it... and then re-try the clone tool...

hello... what the heck is happening here..?
yesterday when I saved it, I had the retopo model baked with Ptex..
the retopo mesh was there in retopo room
the voxel (surface) mesh ( scan) was there too..
Now after saving and re-opening
in Paint room, no Ptex anymore, and as a result, well unusable
retopo mesh is gone
Voxel room... gone too..
What is going on...? Dang...

ahah, as chingchong said, because mainly it's easy... and more fun for young people, ... too long the arms, too big the head...? no problem it looks always right...
I only make real life objects btw...

well well.... if you hide the voxel object prior saving, next re-open, the hidden voxel is gone...

btw, after I subdivided a retopo mesh (from auto retopo), and opening the model, Modo tells me half normals needed to be fixed... (obj.)

for the problem I have had above...
I opened a fresh 3D coat; imported the retopo mesh
applied the disp map I had exported... (3Dcoat told me disp was 27.6), but when I entered that value... it was twice to big... reducing it at 50% solved everything, clone tool works..
PS. the clone tool ... for disp cloning it's good... but color cloning... you can't get a soft brush.. at least with small brushes... medium to large brushes are improved...

Javis, I ended up using the non cuda DX version>>> so far it works...
btw, I am trying to use the Clone brush with depth...... but I get a weird thing.... I am sure I am missing something.... any idea ?

I really have an issue with 3d coat atm.... if I try to import a scanned file, it refuses to open the file (obj.), I mean it does not even read the file, I see directly the voxel panel, and clicking auto scale leaves the counter at 0...
this is in all 3D coat version 3.7.18.F and 4 (last beta5)
Where do I go fro; here... the scan is 24 million triangles

Last stable release 3.7.....
I d love to work with v4, but atm, it does not open my scans, so pointless...
