Valkyr

I noticed when I ctrl clicked on a layer that it got these moving transparent grid behind my painted section. Its really annoying now. How do I turn that grid off? It seems to slowly move in the background when I am in UV Editor mode. I have attached an image file to show you what I mean. I'm sure its a noob question but I just got the software.
