  1. I think so. I'll do some more work later today and see if everything works as it should.
  2. D'OH! I was looking under the Edit menu in the Preferences. Thanks!
  3. Okay I thought I figured the scale thing out. If when I import my initial Genesis figure I select Autoscale it then exports whatever I make at Daz 1unit=1cm scale. But if I try to import a another mesh from Daz to 3D Coat and hit autoscale it no longer autoscales to 1unit=1cm and I get something like this happening. I can't wrap my head around why such a basic (and neccessary) function of setting import and export scale (I have never once seen a 3D program that doesn't have the ability to set the import and export scale) would be missing in 3D Coat. Does this function not exist or is it burried someone I'm simply not thinking to look for it?
  4. I've got my Retopo mesh UVed and baked but I'm having problems where the UV seams are. In some places it's like the texture map got shifted over by a few pixels and is quite noticable. Are there any suggestions on what I can do to minimize this effect?
  5. I'm having export problems too and would like to know the solution. I have a Genesis figure which I imported to sculpt clothes for, but when I export the retopo mesh instead of being the same scale as the Genesis figure and positioned in the right place, the mesh is positioned on the floor and is tiny. I'm looking for a the menu to set export scale to 1unit=1cm which is the scale Daz uses but can't find it. I'm also unsure how to set the export position to where it is and not onto the floor.
  6. Thanks, I'll watch that when I get home (bandwidth where I'm located at the moment is too slow for YouTube unfortunately). One quick question though, when baking a displacement map does the number of subdivisions affect the map that's baked? Should I be trying to subdivide the mesh to the maximum my machine can handle or will it be the same displacement map regardless of the subdivision level?
  7. I see. So I can't bake to the UVs created in the UV room. If I'm going to bake my Retopo mesh I MUST create the UV in the Retopo room. Got it. That must be what I did the last time only I remembered doing it in the UV room for some reason (probably because both rooms work so similar to each other). Thanks.
  8. Yup. Hit apply and still no UV map showing up when I go to Retopo room. I've even saved the UV map in the UV room and then in the Retopo room under the UV tools tried to Load the UV map but where the UV room saved the file as a .UV file the Retopo room is looking to load a file as a .MESH
  9. I'm clearly not wrapping my head around the way UV maps are done in this software. I created mesh via Autopo, Then in the UV Room I created a map for the mesh called Ghastly Dress UV. I applied the UV to the mesh, but when I go back to the Retopo room the UV map Ghastly Dress UV isn't available. If I bake a map with Keep UV then and Dress_Default as the map then no information is stored on any of the layers on the bake. If I Auto_UV then I get the messed up Auto_UV map which overwrites the clean UV map I made. I baked a map before with my own UV map and it worked so I don't know what's going wrong now. Every time I use this software it feels like following the same proceedures consistantly produces random results which is quite frustrating.
  10. The boolean error thing seems to be a bug and once it starts up the only thing that gets rid of it is closing the program and restarting it again. Geometries I know have no problem and the included model geometries will occaisionally give the boolean error message and once that starts I can no longer add or modify anything in the program until I restart.
  11. Thanks that video was very handy! It's working now.
  12. I'm trying to add the button models to an outfit I'm making but it doesn't seem to be working. The button isn't aligned with the gizmo and the gizmo will not move at all. Everything is locked in place and when I hit apply nothing gets applied. Any idea what's going wrong? [edit] I deleted the layer and tried again. Now the gizmo and button are moving but when I try to add it I get the boolean error message. I'm not sure why I'm getting such random problems when I've been able to add models without any problems before. [edit 2] Ah! I think I'm beginning to understand. Are the models only able to be added as non-voxels? [edit 3] Nope.... added 2 buttons and get the boolean error again when I try to add the 3rd.
  13. Figured out what the problems were. In the first case I did my bake with the Genesis figure still visible so it was interfereing with the bake. Second time I just had the voxel body suit visible for the back. Second problem was caused by an undeleted layer interfering with the second bake. Third problem I was having was not being able to bake a dispacement map. The maps were coming out a uniform grey with no displacement data. Figured out that was because I didn't subdivide the retopo mesh when doing the bake (or at least that seems to be the problem).
  14. Well I got the sweat stains gone, but now this is happening. When I rotate the model different parts of the texture map disappear and reappear.
  15. So I'm learning more about this software and I'm definitely liking it so far. In fact, it's top of my list so far in the "time to upgrade my modelling software from Hexagon and Sculptris". Today I tried the autoretopo and the bake and I noticed I got some odd results with the bake. They almost look like sweat stains. Is this an artifact of the shader I was using (Slivery) or am I doing something wrong?
  16. So I've imported the Genesis Base figure as a non-voxelized model so I can make clothing for it. On another layer I was wanting to work on a voxel mesh but anything I work on remains non-voxelized. Is it not possible to have voxelized and non-voxelized models in the same project?
  17. Are there any tutorials on getting the most out of 3D Coat for Daz Studio users? In particular tutorials on making clothing and morphs for the Genesis figure?
  18. Thanks! That did the trick. Loving the software so far.
  19. I'm watching the "Rat From Scratch" video tutorial which appears to be made with an older version on 3D Coat. I've been able to translate everything to V4 just fine until the 4rth video. I can't get a Sphere and a Cylinder in the scene at the same time. When I click sphere in the Tool Option (which is in a free floating window and not on the right side of the screen like it shows in the video) the cylinder disappears. If I click cylinder it reappears but now the sphere disappears.
