  1. why is importing such a pain? zbrush loads all .obj with no problems what so ever and the quality is perfect, no messing with resolution or going from surface mode back to voxels ... geez... its a pain to try to get a imported model to import half way decent!!

  2. we should be able to lock the background images we load in for reference. when i try to adjust the transpose tool and miss.. it hits the background image and writes masking like on it.. also... i cant use any tools with the background image on screen. 3d coat wont let me.. wtf?? i then have to shut off the all images not just the one im looking at... before i can cut or whatever...

  3. the handles on the tools such as the transform tool are hard to grab and pull... often i miss them hit the background and screw up my flow... its not just me either, on a tutorial video a guy kept having the same problem! you should fix this not so minor nuisance...

  4. I agree with you too.

Generally speaking there's much inconsistency in 3D-Coat. We can manually reorder VoxTree, Retopo Objects, Paint Layers, but we can't reorder (or sort) Paint Objects or Paint Materials. We also can't reorder contents of windows that contain images, like Shaders, Splines, Models, Retopo Models. We can use ALT+RMB to zoom in and MMB to pan the Color Palette image, but we can't use those shortcuts when picking the colour from the very same image from inside the Smart Materials Editor (at least not with my current navigation settings). Et cetera, et cetera. There's a lot of room for improvement here.

I believe these would be simple code tweaks, but they would make 3D-Coat much polished in terms of UI and UX.

    oh so true...

  5. About the Ops feature request: Brush alphas are currently sorted alphabetically iirc (they can't be moved around manually or set to use any other type of sorting), and while as you can put them in different folders those folders will all be forced to have copies of the default brush alphas in them too. It could certainly use improvement.

    agree!

  6. well i guess basically the feature are there but not in the way id like. i like the zbrush approach where the tools are not already alongside the screen and the scrolling is a pain and should be removed permanatly. imho.. good luck improving 3d coat.

  7. There aren't two separate rooms for surface and voxel sculpting. There's no surface room, there's no voxel room, It's just one room, the sculpt room. The freeze mask is available in the sculpt room, you just need to be in surface mode. You don't need to switch rooms to do this.

by rooms i mean switching between voxel mode and surface mode or whaever you want to call it. i wouldnt expect you to know what i mean. but hopefully others might... good thing you dont speak for them..

and surface mode freeze aint really bad but they need to be in voxel room/mode!!

  8. VoxXray, VoxHide and Cell will help in the voxel mode.

lol what did i say! i knew someone would say there are workarounds for it!! omg!! i just need masking as in zbrush!! simple masking!! in voxel room of course.

i know surface room has that stupid freeze crap. i call it crap cuz the way it masks is ugly. not clean like in zbrush! yuk!

guess thats why 3d coat is number 2 and not number one. as it should & could be!!

  9. all anyone can ask for is a simple answer like, we are working on it or thats a good idea we will look at it, or thats not useful because...

not question bout my age, gender, race... geez... really!!

  10. I agree and meant to send them a message requesting the same thing. There is a lot of their content on the 3D Coat Facebook page. There is an Intro video on their Concept Art page, so I'm not sure why they didn't do the same for all their courses. Seems pretty legit, though. Jama has a gallery page here and he's worked on some big productions.

thank you! you are always helpful!

  11. why in the heck is there no masking in the voxel room????? omfg!!!!!! masking please!!!  (unless there is somehow and i missed it) i just know your gonna say something like use hide or use this instead.. but i want masking in the voxel room!!!!!

  12. I did write a response, outlining the issues involved, but I swiftly realised that it's probably only going to raise more questions with you.

Don't take this wrong way, it's a genuine curiosity based on how you post, but:

    How old are you?

im glad u think u answered my suggestion but i fail to see any good tutorials on the site like zbrush... untill then i will stand by my suggeestion... age seems to be a problem for you. i hope u dont have any kids, they would hav a miserable life being talked to like you do... anyway MORE GOOD/CLEAR TUTORIALS PLEASE IN THE NEW 3D COAT CLASSROOM.. HAH!

actually i think i should work at 3d coat and make this software the best software in the business.... i would work for free cuz i love the program that much.... booya!!

    seriously, gimme a call...

  13. You can organise your UI however you like, whatever window sizes you prefer, docked or not docked. Alphas and stencils can be split into categories so you don't end up with one single page for everything. You can also adjust the size of these icons by hitting the little down arrow with the line above it situated in the top right of whatever tab you're in.

You can also define presets of certain brush options/alpha combos that you find yourself frequently using, these are also sorted by category (ie, surface tools) and key'able.

Please stop suggesting every little thing you think of.

i dont want to suggest every little thing i can think of but when i think it would make difference in my work flo and i think it would be a big help.. then i suggest it... that said... its all the little things that make a program great. which is better than being stagnant just waiting around for others to suggest it, but never do, cuz some ppl think its to much trouble to read all the suggestions from all the 3d coat fans... stop complaining and either dont read and take a vacation ot read and input some helpful reason why or why not u think  an idea is worth it. if you want only great ideas then you should/could come up with all the only great ideas.. then we can all rest and bask in your greatness... or whoever is the great genius with all the greatest ideas becuz no one else but you can judge that. sorry if our ideas dont match up to you idea a a good idea but i dont see you coming up with anything great... maybe your time would be better somewhere else than listening to us measly lil minded users. im a user that would like to see this software get better and even be the best... i dont believe it will get that way with ppl like you complaining that users are giving to many unhelpful suggestions.. they cant all be perfect..  edison tried many no so good ideas before he got his inventions... keep that in mind ... its easy for some to critisize other who are trying to make their modeling easier/faster/better., becuz that makes them feel superior... well pfffft thats crap...

As Gary mentioned, you can already place the pallet where you like and choose different thumbnail sizes. If you want the brush alpha pallet to be a pop-up, just undock it and invoke it with a hotkey. Wherever your cursor is when you hit the hotkey is where it will come up. Move your cursor outside the pallet and it disappears. Works just like the Symmetry or e-Panel popup works.

You can also set up your own Presets, as Gary mentioned, with your most frequently used brush alphas and name them accordingly. Then, if you want, you can use the Preset Panel the same way I just described. Undock it and invoke it with a hotkey. Whatever room you are in, only the presets for that room will be listed first.

    ok thanks. that helps...

  14. why cant 3d coat produce videos of the quality that learned squared does. the quality and quantity of quality work produced would blow up exponentially. and quality artists would realize 3d coats potential and flock to 3d coat..

  15. i suggest you put all the  alphas and materials in a pop up like  you can hide the brushes and use the spacebar to pop up a brush window.

because scrolling up and down is a huge pain every time i want to find a brush thats at the bottom or top. and making a hotkey for every brush would be a pain to remember.

this would  clean up the screen and provide more usable screen space. i

  16. hmmm maybe 3d coat should make a  3d coat modeler room separate  from the retopo room then... and improve the modeler tool in there to be more like zbrush, but even better.. and again, its not in enlish and i cant read the tool names . the subs help but jeez why cant  3d coat put more (all) of these  tuts in english??

  17. um ya... tons and tons of old crappy tutorials. not good ones. and mostly speed sculpting which dont tell you how to use the tools.  usually old out of date. and the same on the 3d coat website. im talking a classroom type tutorial section as in zbrush zclassroom where they have tons of up to date, clear, step by step videos on the usage of every tool!! most if not all that stuff is the same out of date crap. it is 3 and 5 years old. 3d coat needs to be current if it is to be taken seriously!

  18. Whaaaat? I had no idea the poly modeling tools in 3D-Coat were already so advanced! I guess there are some Retopo Room tools I haven't been using to full effect yet!

Carlosan, thank you! That video was awesome...but I wish there was an English version...

Edit: Well after watching that video I decided to try it out myself. A couple of hours messing around and I see the tools are somewhat limited, and a little buggy, but overall I'm pretty impressed! It's funny how those extrude tools have been there for a while, but I never really noticed. Andrew mentioned that he would be adding even more low poly modeling tools, so I'm excited to see what he adds next!

thats because 3d coat has few and old and not very good tutorial videos. zbrush has great helpful videos for their product. and 3d coat could be the best product out there if they added the tools necessary. all our ideas are what it takes to make 3d coat the greatest, but they need to be implemented. maybe they dont have enough programmers or maybe they think they dont need to be great. or maybe to lazy.. i dont know. but i wish it would happen and happen soon.

  19. 3d coat needs to add a tutorial section like zbrushs zclassroom. you need to lay out all the tools in videos. then more ppl will be able to do lot better work showing the incrediable power potential of 3d coat!! right now the 3d coat learn section is very pathetic. its sparse with outdated videos. very sad really. ive seebn some amazing stuff done with 3d coat probably done lot faster than zbrush, but i dont know where they got their 3d coat education! im dying for knowledge to learn how to make the things others have made in 3d coat. but i havnt seen very much of it on youtube. no good tutorials. just anouncements and speed drawing but no good tutorials. we need an education/learning/3d coat classroom!!!!

  20. that great but, its not good enough. sounds like some half baked stuff you are leaving out there to try to please us . 3d coat has the potential to be better than zbrush if you would jusr learn from them and other software. 3d coat does instantly what takes zbrush longer with workarounds. you got to take these things (our requests) more seriously and put these things into 3d coat. then 3d coat wwill crush zbrush!.
