  1. Hello

Thanks, @Haunted for the great addon.

had a quick question can this be used with the current blender applink?

I mean use the current applink for updating mesh and use yours for the material?

    Edit:

I just read you are working a new version that will cover mesh exports too, looking forward to that.

but will me approach work till it's released?

    Thanks a lot

    Regards

    Ahmed

  2. Hello, first of all thanks a lot for the applinker,  the workflow described here is if you start from Houdini export load in 3dc, what if I am starting in 3dc and want to export first from there, Should I just export using the Houdini Mantra surface preset?, and would you happen to know if that would work with redshift?.

and when baking I cant find any Houdini preset for normals, which one of the existing ones would work?

and then should I export this to the exchange folder or can I just pick any folder and then point the Houdini app link to it?

Thanks a lot for your time

  3. Thanks for you reply very appreciated, unfortunately I didn't import my base mesh in the retopo room first, and I finished sculpting now, can I load the base mesh now in retopo and move it to sculpt room and conform, or is there is another workflow for it if you do it after you finished sculpting?

    Regards

  4. Hello

I have a question, if I started sculpting using a base mesh, can I after load it in the retopo room and shrink wrap it to the sculpted model and add details to it where needed?

    Thanks a lot

Workflow that is 'best' of course depends on the work you are doing or what just naturally works best for you once you learn the tools. This is my standard workflow for all my models (I primarily focus on low poly modeling with high poly baked normal maps on them):

Thanks Mystical for your reply and your detailed description of your workflow in that thread, am quite new to 3D coat, but I have been doing 3D for a while now, used to be a softimage artist and now am looking into new tools and as Linux is my main platform Zbrush was out of the equation, and I don't use any Autodesk products no more, I am more interested in blocking then detailing my characters inside of 3D Coat and finish them up then decide if I want to export them or not, and do I want to go through the proccess of retopo and UVing, so my question would be if I start painting in 3D coat on a voxel or a surface model without retopo or present UVs would this creat problems later if I decied to do them after and transfer all the paint and textureing work I did?

  6. Thanks for the links will check them for sure, I was speaking in general terms, but my target is more of production assets and design, models for 3D print.

a lot of the available work is also game oriented so am a bit curious about that too.

  7. Hi Everyone

Just wanted to get different thoughts and ideas on workflows inside 3d coat, pros, and cons of different approaches.

so what is your workflow do you sculpt then retopo and then uv and start painting, or do you sculpt and paint and then retopo, uv and bake ur painting onto that, also I would like to ask if there are any tutorials for the smart materials layers and how to integrate that with the previous workflows.

    Thanks in Advance

    Regards
