  1. @Yousung Hello and thanks. Okay... Just found it also out myself the hard way. I get the idea of case sensitive menus... but if you dont know the tools and philosophy of the software then you are lost. A non global approach: 1. Add Geometry -> Select 2. Operate over Edges MUST be selected (Case sensitive menu!!) 3. Select all Edges on the mesh you wanna set to smooth 4. Selected -> Clear Sharp
  2. Hello, @Carlosan thanks for reply. I updated 3DCoat to 2021.53 but the problem persists although i found out what it is. Almost all edges are marked as "Sharp Edges"... colored turquoise in the viewport. I found that with the Retopo->Tweak->Sharp Edges Tool , i can mark the few black edges that are left also "sharp" and they turn turquoise. Okay, thats all great and nice... but HOW do i turn them back into "SOFT Edges" ?? There is nothing in the docs about it.... Thanks!!
  3. Hello forum, I made a retopo mesh in 3DCoat (Insta Mesh). The problem is that all faces are shaded flat. Facetes. So when i send it over to the paint room (Bake w/ Normal Map (per pixel)) the generated Normalmap also has these facets baked in. If this would not be the case i actually would not care since the model is shaded fine in my 3D Software. How can i switch to smooth shading?? I do not wanna subdivide any further. I tryd it but the facets stay (Just smaller polygons). Thank you!
  4. @Carlosan Hello and thanks for your help!! I followed your steps and in general it worked. i just have a problem with the generated normalmap. So here is what i did. Followed by the result. Retopo Room > Retopo Menu > Import (Lowpoly) Shift+M > Surface Sculpting > Import (Hipoly) Retopo Room > Bake (I set the inner and outher shell as close as possible) Paint Room > Textures > Export > Normalmap (TS,Low-Poly mesh Result has "squares" in te map. Ill keep investigating. Maybe too close shells.
  5. Thanks for your answer, but this does not help at all. I know this video. I watched it 3 times. He imports a Hipoly mesh and retopos it. It does not show how to import 2 meshes (Hipoly and lowpoly) from disc. My problem is the import. I dont even know how to properly import the 2 meshes for baking. So my questions are: 1. How do i import the lowpoly mesh? 2. How do i import the highpoly mesh? 3. How do i bake from hi to low to normalmap? What room? What import option from the 8 available???
  6. Hello Forum, I have 2 OBJ files on my harddisc. One Hipoly Mesh One Lowpoly Mesh with UVWs I want to bake out a simple normalmap for the lowpoly mesh. I struggle already on the very unintuitive import. And to be honest this is just ridiculous. Why are there 8 ! different ways to import a stupid (obj) Mesh. Why? I dont know ANY other 3D software that needs to have 8 different import options to load a simple mesh. In my 3D software (Softimage) i just import the obj files by Import->OBJ (Only ONE Import dialog) Then i have 2 meshes in my viewport. Then i fire up Ultimapper. Select hipoly, select lowpoly. Select maps to be baked -> Render maps. Done! Thats exactly 7 mouse clicks (at best). And i have my Normalmap. 3DC is such a great software, iam new to it, sure, but why do i have to watch 20 videos to understand in what room what import feeds the objects. I just dont get it.
