I am working on this tutorial and I was having problems with filling the color. It is not clear in the tutorial or the manual that you have to right-click to disable the "Pick Color" control instead of disable the Color Channel in order to get a fill that modulates between the two chosen colors. The screenshot doesn't show the "Pick Color" control disabled. Took a while to figure out so I hope this helps someone else.
