  1. I saved a model to an STL file and tryed to print it (3D printer) The 3D printer indicated an error not allowing it to print. It vaguely indicated there were gaps in the model. The model size was only 4M I imported the model (OBJ) into ClayTools and again as I mentioned before, the program has a fumction of filling in gaps. After I imported and saved it under an STL file and it is now 47M Can anyone tell me what might be happenning? It could be related to my previous post regaing poser figures I tryed to import not appearing solid. Thanks in advance Tony
  2. Pardon my delay in responding. Yes, it is actually the demo version. If there is anything else I might try please let me know.
  3. Thank you once agian for replying. Sorry to say niether suggestion worked Before hitting apply I tryed both suggestions When pressing the mesh closed button I did not see the CPU do a whole lot. (I think it would be better if the button reversed highlighted indicating the command took) Also when subdividing I could not see much happening. Once again there is no indicator that the function was completed. There is a simular feature in ClayTools where you can check a "fill in gaps" box. The file goes from 4M to 47M after that process is done. So I imagine you are correct that it has to do with closing the mesh. I will look at the poser side of this but I do not recall much as far when choosing options in exporting. If you can think of anything else I would appreciate it. For now I can import into ClayTools then export to 3D coat Frankly I rather just use 3D coat since it is a much better program. Many thanks again, Tony
  4. Thank you for the suggestion. I tryed pressing the "make mesh closed " but saw not much of a difference. When pressing it, there was no indication that anything happened, no change in highlight or check mark or anything that indicates that it is working. I tryed it before scaling, after scaling before and after hitting apply. It seemed to work somewaht but there were still many gaps. Any thing else??
  5. Thanks for the post I tryed Z-brush and Claytools each of which did not show this problem. I don't know if that helps understanding what I'm seeing. I've imported into ClayTools, exported the same model into an OBJ file and was able to get the total model I tryed to find something in Poser but nothing there. If anyone else has an idea I would appreciate it. Thanks again Tony
  6. Hello again, I attempted to import a image from Poser into Voxel mode. I increased the scale to a pretty high level to around 1.3M The Imported OBJ file is around 17M However each time I try to merge it the mid-section is missing as well as a few other body parts. Can anyone tell me how to successfully merge Poser images into 3D coat? Once again thanks!!
  7. Good day, I have been trying to merge two objects without a lot of success. I made up a voxel block and then tryed to import a object, followed by trying to merge them together. Can anyone please explain the process of merging objects? There is scaling issues and moving the object as well. The function of moving the object is a lot of hiy or miss so if there is a easier way I would appreciate the tip. Many thanks again, I cannot express how good this program is! Tony

    Snake

Thanks for your suggestion increasing res totally worked Tony
  9. I've tried snake a few times and I really like it. But there are times when I extrude a snake and as soon as I release the LHM (let's say a chain) the detail of the chain looks distorted. There have been times when it looks great. Can you tell me what settings or conditions I need to set up so that the detail of the snake object remains? Thanks Tony
  10. Thank you very much, that was exactly what I wanted.
  11. Thanks for the information! What I was looking for actually was using a drawing or photo to over lay on let's say a block. Then be able to use the photo as a guide to sculpt the object. In ClayTools it is called import image. I then have access to JPG files to import. The image is then burned into the object and I can go from there. Been having great fun with 3DC, really excellent!
  12. OK I got it now. I was not sure how the scale function worked I can now use it:) Thank you for your paitents guys I did notice the resolution of my was a bit lower then what I started. Another dumb question might be in the works
  13. I increased my virual memory by double and it seems to stop the program from crashing when I import and object. But I just cannot find the imported object anywhere on the mesh or in space Still cannot change polycount. Would love to buy this program but cannot seem to even get it to work to the point where I can evaluate it. A bit more help would be appreciate it! Thanks Tony
  14. Thanks for the reply So the default Est polycount is 119 (not sure if this is in K) I tryed to change it to a different number. say 150 I hit OK but it reverts back to 119 I tryed changing it in every step of the process but it will not change from 119. Can you tell me what I did wrong? I then hit apply and I did get an object. I had to zoom it to about the size of a single square and the image was basiclly a blob. Can you tell me how to rememedy that? Is it related to the polycount issue I might be getting closer, a tad hopeful!! Thanks again Tony
  15. Thanks for the response Yes into the voxel room As I said in another post I am still having problems with importing into the voxel mode Anything it seems over 10MB crashes the program I've only managed to import an object once so far I get some virual memory errors asking to increase it That's fine but can anyone reccommend an amount? I increased a bit already but no help. Is there another problem I need to address? I select- Merge Select mesh Pick my obj file Apply Tryed answering yes and no regarding size I don't see an object and cannot seem find a function that scales it I had saved the object as a 4x5in piece Tryed hitting auto scale among other buttons Are there any other settings I should know about? Then chug....then crash I tryed the trial program on a friends computer which is a 2.1Ghz 2G RAM and was just as bad if not worst Z-brush seems to have no trouble openning any file size, but I really love your voxel features and truely am routing for 3D coat. Getting a bit frustrated however:nea: Please advise Many Thanks
