hello everyone
here is a little videotutorial how to connect C4D with 3D-Coat.
there are next steps:
1) C4D model preparation - UV correction, model correction, export
2) 3DC model import - comparation with C4D structure
3) 3DC - SPD export
4) C4D SPDs import, deleting "suporting" polygons
5) C4D rendering, voila - amazing sculpt in C4D!
Cheers Pavel

Camtasia codec needed! You can find it on www.techsmith.com

I will upload here my expirience how to get correctly result with 3DC-C4D, I don´t have a time for deeper playing with 3DC now - you now, C4D R11 is out and I must do a support - articles and much more...
How to get nice resoults:
Import:
if you need to import more than 1 object - use different material for each of them, becouse 3DC remembers these materials in obj format and specify UV of each object to defined material. If you use one material for all, there will be a problem, becouse SPD will be generated to one texture (one material) for all objects and you will have problems with UV updates etc! Don´t forget on that!
I usually use standard C4D obj exporter, works fine at me.

Wow Nice! Work
haha, thx guys, but my wife does not like that and she has right, legins are not good and I will rework a first kilt and legins, too

a little question, did you use LWO format? I had strange expirience with spd on model generated by LWO, too - it is really strange, but if I use obj, it worked correctly

Well, basically I just painted a line down the entire length of the model as a test. Nothing earth shattering yet!
I exported a 2048 x 2048 displacement map from 3DC. I made a material in C4D. In the displacement channel I placed the map I exported.
Then I used these settings. I have no idea if these are optimal. I had to play around a bit to get these:
Strength: 50%
Height: 10 m
Type: Intensity (Centered)
I checked Sub-Polygon Displacement, as well as Round Geometry. Not sure how important the other settings are.
Subdivision Level is set to 4.
Again...I have no idea what I'm doing!!!
Hello
I don´t have a problem with generated displacement but remember there is more way how to get correctly displ. map...
I usually use easer HN way with higher HN render subdivision, it is easer and I get correctly results

I want to do some tutorials, but I wait for a final release

Really excellent work! There is something to be said for 100% hand painted textures, they take a long time to make but the results are a much more vibrant color map. Reminds me of the Drake's Fortune models(also hand painted completely). I think the only thing you need now is some blue/red pigment hue variation on some spots, but it could be a style choice. Looks great, nonetheless.
THX
You are right, but as I said before I hope I will have a time for part of body and Head will be height mx 300-350 points and there will be not a chance for super hifh res details :-)
THX!

One from Italians Constantinople defenders
pipeline
C4D - base mesh, UV
3D-Coat for sculpting, texturing - full hand made, without photo sources
PSD-little textures adjusting
BP3D-some pores adding
Hair module
C4D/GI rendering
PSD for finlatouch
not finished yet :-)

The model and lighting are good, I love the effect of the eyes looking out of the essentially monochrome scene, but I would have to say if the concept is to convey stone in some way it was lost on me. If the title hadn't given it away, I can honestly say I wouldn't have even thought stone. Albino maby, but not stone. The texture just conveys skin, white skin, but just skin, there didn't seem to be any details that would not be present in a normal face. The scene seems very futuristic to me, some type of creche clone or something like that.
Anywho, it is very nice, like I said, I like the general feel of the scene.
Casey
You are right a problem is in a feeling. Wanted I do "a stone turn to life", or man turn to "stone" with plaster powder? I wanted to achieve a second one...
It is a still wip, I want to finished it but I must reinstal f*cking Win Vista64 back to WinXP this week...
THX, P

MacOS is in final stage before public beta. The man that worked over it was away for 2 weeks, so there was some short stop. But today he resumed work. I think that 2.10 will be released on PC & Mac (maybe with small delay)
My deadline was 9 of july, but because of that delay in work there is delay in release...
THX, I go post news ony my CGtalk thread :-)

Hello Andrew
a simple question, what´s new with "MacOS" version?

How easy it is to get a mesh from C4D to 3d Coat and back? Is their a tutorial on this? Thank you I never used a sculpting program before but this looks great for the price and quality.
Josh
Hello
there is a standard "ZB" way. Use a Riptude plugin for an export to 3DC and usually I use baking tool for texture export back. If I change a shape of my model - I allways export/import my model from 3DC back to C4D where I update an UV mesh (Export UV command). Again, use Riptide plugin for both operations (import export).

Great work Pavel.
Did you used Disp or normal maps ?
Did you used the standart c4d renderer ?
finally i used displacement map and C4D GI renderer (gray sky and two flat lights) and post production :-)
PS: Usually use I a HN with high sub. renderer value without SPD

Good painting and idea!
I´m glad you like it and THX for your "directly support" and "throubles shooting"
If you want - use it :-)

texture, diplacement maping and normalmap: 3dcoat
Cool! A mounth looks a bit strange, DoF, too but still amazing! Andrew, add it to your gallery please :-)

Hello Andrew
it is a bit harder. I have special contract with www.grafika.cz, they publish my articles from my server (www.3dsoftware.cz) and they pay me for that. It is very special situation, becouse I get money from "non unigue" articles...
I must ask them first.
About my EN - it is really terrible :-) haha, agency could be better I suppose.
Wait please, I will contact a www.grafika.cz server for that.
Pavel
Hello Andrew, you can translate my article if you want, www.grafika.cz told me there is not problem. You must do one think - write there that article is from www.grafika.cz
A new part is out!

Today we have hired a man to port 3DC to Mac platform. If all will be ok, 3DC will be ported in 2-3 months. We have set 3 months for him as a maximal time to port.
Great news!

Hello Andrew
1) Could you add a checkbox to Symmetry menu (to the planes options), please (useful if you are zoomed to some mirrored detail and you can not check whole model)?
2) Really symmetrical Select and Move mode, it would be great!
THX and cheers Pavel
And other one:
3) position/scale axis and rotation bands on amazing Drag points!
Cheers Pavel

little update and wire
(I use an export import UV tool - great!)

Hello all
I work on other one

Please explain... What is a picture as a reference? How it differs from materials and image mode in palette?
Hello
it is same as standard painting, you have an original object and your canvas, nothing special. Yes, your "projection material system" is simply amazing, but it is not same. I use sometimes a simple photo side by side my editor window - an original of my own work.... For a reference...
That's all what I need :-)
Cheers Pavel
PS: maybe I'm wrong, but:
Is picture in window in color picker allways stratched?
Is there a chance to zoom this picture? and adjust a size of this?
