  1. Thanks! That's great input. I guess Hyper Threading is something I'm lacking on my CPU, thus might be a bottleneck. I'll add more RAM. Think I can take the old RAM with me whenever I upgrade to an i7.
  2. What's the cheapest/easiest way to upgrade from 3D Coat v3 edu to v4 pro?
  3. I've started testing a new workflow to make terrains with World Machine, where I use 3D Coat to sculpt voxels and export a heightmap. But the sculpting process is kind of slow or sluggish, so I thought it might be because of my CPU. I've currently got an i5 2500K, 8GB RAM and a GTX Titan 6GB RAM on Windows 8.1 Pro. It's been a while since I last purchased CPU, but what do you think about the i7 4930K ? Does anyone else use this one with 3D Coat and similar tasks?
  4. Thank you for replying guys. I'm using LightWave 3D with LWCAD for the buildings, and thought I'd use 3D Coat for UV unwrapping and painting the textures. Just to get into this (totally) new world of painting instead of applying surfaces to polygons, I tried with something super simple. The UV looks fine after some work and unwrap, but when I start to paint the brick texture is screwing up. Got anything to give me a kick in the right direction? Edit Guess I'm a little trigger happy. Poked around a little and found "Apply UV-set." - that did the trick.
  5. I'm thinking of getting 3D coat, but I'm not sure yet. I see 3D coat being used for all kinds of stuff, except structures and buildings. Has anyone used 3D coat for buildings yet? I'm exporting my models from LightWave to the game-engine which X-Plane uses. I need better control of the UV map than what LW can do. I guess I'd like to see practical examples. A video tutorial if possible.
