  1. Hi everybody,

    I do some Retopo works at this time and I have to suggest some few improvements to the Retopo tools:

    • The possibility to set the opacity of the mesh to have a better visibility of the Original HI-res mesh.
    • To cut through several faces with the Split tool.
    • To Slide vertex along Edge (the same effect like the Slide Edge tool but with a vertex selection).
    • Relax to a selection of vertices instead of the entire object.

    I really love your idea about resolutionless sculpting and others,but you aren't a programmer,why you are so firmly believe your ideas are techinically possible? I think you are a little temerarious.In fact,I really hope your ideas can be implemented.I PMed Andrew about your ideas,but I think he is really overwhelmed with information.So,please hold your horse,and believe Andrew can make it!

    You are really a genius and code machine,and works so hard,you add a ton of features to 3dc.If you try mudbox and zbrush,you will realise the brush engine of 3dc should be improved,so stop add features,and focus on the brush engine improvment,it is very important,it is the core of VS!

  3. Glad to see the all the bugs squashed and 3dcoat returning to its stable self. ;)

    I think i have a good theory on how to improve voxel brush(es) performance.

    This will open up the way for a real clay in voxels and the same theory could quite possibly boost extrude as well.

    Its alot of work to put it on paper though (and graphs are necessary) because its a very unconventional approach with its own challenges.

    I hope the improvements coming next version(s) will inspire me to put in the effort and write it all out.

    If what i have in mind is not flawed in some way ive missed and is feasible in code you may be able to take the first steps towards true resolution free sculpting!

    (note it does not specifically exclude the resolution concept; it merely makes it much less important)

  4. The problem is that I am using 8-bit PSD that is not good for exporting depth.

    As soon as I will utilize 16-bit PSD I will do that feature.

    OR - I can use 32 bit EXR or TIFF files.

    Anyway - after release. I know this is important feature.

    I will do possibility to sync all - depth and specular but slightly later.

    Great to hear that,now I import and export between photoshop and 3dc with TIFF files for displacement map!
