hey gang.
i have two eyeballs in my scene, i had symmetry ON, i used the transform tool to move the eyes and both eyes moved in the same direction. its like there was no symmetry at all? so i deleted one eyeball and tried the layer symmetry, nothing happened. i turned on symmetry by pressing S and tried the layer symmetry again. nothing has happened. i used the move tool to slightly move the eyeball hoping it would then use symmetry. still nothing has happened.
i have seen this happen several times now while learning 3d coat. what the fudge am i doing wrong?

my scene scale was 1900.928
i changed it to 100 and ive had less problems. i still see clipping happening though.
my measurements were in MM. i changed that to meters. hopefully this will fix some issues. appreciate the info carlson.

Please someone tell me whats happening here? i'm trying to sculpt this characters face, when i zoom in and start sculpting large chunks of the model disappear and then reappear. impossible to work on him at the moment. only way i can prevent this is by zooming out? i cant see the details i need to see then...this looks like a camera clipping setting or something? SUPER frustrating! i'm just trying to sculpt and i cant see diddly! AARGHGHG!!!

I believe just through the File>import>import for voxelation. something like that. i'm at work and i'm not in coat atm.
its like coat is importing, or wanting to import a texture that isn't there and its giving me semi transparent black instead. dont know how to prevent this.

ive had this happen a few times now and i still cant find a solution. i exported as .obj from modo, and most of my model is black? i've applied a shader to it and only on the fingers do i see the shader? can someone explain to me how i get rid of this? why this is happening?
i'm a FORMER zbrush user so i'm still learning coat and this one is new to me. really appreciate any help.

since updating to the beta version i haven't seen this happen again.

well, you guys rule! i got really excellent advice on a fix for this. i have been using open gl version. so ill switch that and follow abnRanger's advice. thanks again guys.
i really love 3d coat btw. thats why it kills me i was scared i wouldn't be able to use it. its absolutely stunning what it does compared to zbrush.

been using the demo for over a month. i absolutely love 3d coat but its ridiculously unstable. i get the most random crashes on pc or mac. for no reason parts of my model will dissapear or it will get distorted all the sudden? ...i'm using the latest beta btw and ive seen no improvement on stability.
we're in pre production at work and i have been telling my art director all about the wonders of 3d coat. we cant use this tool as is though, its super buggy. anyone else having issues?
damnit! i want to use coat but i cant. i keep losing work. wtf!

i imported a model from Modo, into voxel mode and it shows me the required polys as 12? my character has about 1200 polys...
the only way i can get this model to be workable is by clicking on the autoscale? i want my object to be the exact same scale it was in modo, no resizing. what am i missing here?
also, when i try to apply a shader to the model, it wont let me change the shader, its just always white? can someone explain this?

hey gang.
i use the Inflate deformation in zbrush all the time. is there ANYTHING like this in coat? its super useful.

i updated to the beta. i haven't seen it happen again.

undo sometimes makes the problem worse...trying the beta now.

3dcoat says i'm using the latest. i guess it doesn't look at beta's? sigh...pretty let down with 3d coat so far i gotta say. damnit

nah, some brushes seem to do absolutey nothing. other brushes work just fine.
i'm still learning 3d coat. totally new to the program. this just seems very odd to me its working like this.

hey carlo, i was working in voxel mode. some brushes did absolutely nothing for smoothing. that, i just dont get?

i'm trying to sculpt this guy and when i press ctrl+lmb my shape disappears and it turns into all these little dots? this looks like a bug? ummm...i'm super confused, i just want to carve into the mesh and it wont let me. . .

i dont understand whats going on when i press Shift+lmb. some brushes smooth exactly as i'd expect in zbrush, some other brushes smooth and its totally unnoticeable? i'm coming from zbrush, this may be normal for 3d coat? i'm really confused. i want my brushes to smooth a LOT when i press shift lmb. whats up with this? appreciate any info.

i am scupting my characters arms seperately, i selected the arms using pose tool with SelectObject as the option. the arms are highlighted red right now, for the life of me i cant fgure out how to extract these arms to their own layer? this must be possible. appreciate any help on this.

I tried the auto scale, my 3d mouse works great when i click on auto scale for my character. if i dont click auto scale, the model comes in at the correct size. its INCREDIBLY small in 3d coat though? its miniature? i need the scale to stay the same as i'm going from coat to modo eventually. can someone explain how i do this correctly?

hey guys. total newbie in coat still. i'm absolutely LOVING it though. i have to start a new character at work today and i think i'm ready to start one in 3d coat.
my concern right now is this.
i exported a decimated character i did from zbrush, i tried the import>merge object with these settings.
Auto Scale (somewhere this was an option?)
Merge without voxelizingMake Mesh closed.
i pressed ENTER and the mesh is a Surface layer (which i do want) and everything looks exactly the same as it did in zbrush.
I'm hoping i can use the imported mesh as size reference so when i export out of 3d coat back in to zbrush or modo, my characters size stays the same? do the settings i used look correct for importing a mesh? I hope this makes sense.

I'm planning on using 3d coat for work starting this week. i'm getting the hang of voxels but i really need to know if 3d coat has these zbrush equivalent brushes? can someone please tell me if these brushes exist in coat can someone tell me what the brush would be?
i mostly use these 3 or 4 brushes constantly in zbrush. someone please tell me they exist in coat. maybe some are surface only brushes? ive only messed with voxels so far.
trim dynamic brush?
clay tubes brush?
polish and polishHard?
permanently remove color information from layer?

i imported an obj and now my layers have this color swatch on them. the layer info told me there is color information on the layer which i'll get bach once i go to surface mode. thats totally handy but i dont need it for what i'm doing, how can i delete all color information? i just need shaders on my mesh while sculpting.
cheers for any info on this!
