Thank you Andrew! ( I find ALL bugs hard to describe!! )

Originally I had the dome slightly tipped with fluid sputing out of the gap,but just couldnt get happy with it,so I cut it.I did consider a crack, but my brain was getting weary.May be I will revisit this one when I am feeling refreshed! If you look closely at the dome ,there are loads of little scratches...they took me absolutley ages to figure out,and its still not quite what I wanted.I get bored real quick these days

I see you have already done a Blender Applink already! Maybe I should take another look at Blender!
-
Thank you folks!
I am in awe of people you who could make an Applink! I think you can either do it or you can't....just like music....thats a closed world to me as well!

Love these CFK! I really like the grainy look you've got on Pod....... I never crit other folks work ( unless its Tracy Emin...the famous "Professor of Drawing")...but Im missing the graininess on Pretty!
-
Ok, so I am painting stuff....I get the option to increase the opacity to 200%......Forgive me for being a dummy, what is wrong with 100 % surely it can only be 100% opaque? For what would I use 200% for?

Sorry AbnRanger, of course you were!! I was being selfish! I will try and do some screen grabs just to show what my gripe is!....stay tuned....
EDIT: Ive played around with the z bias a bit on an object that is simpler than the one I was doing before, and I think I am seeing more how it works now.Hopefully I will have less trouble next time....I think I am trying to run before I can walk!!
-
Abnranger ..you are confusing me now.I dont need a semi transparent shader, I can already see thru the voxels. That is what I dont want! And wire frame is even more confusing if you can see all the way thru. Forgive me if I am misunderstanding you! All I want is for the voxel object to be completely solid like it is in the voxel room.

I know how to call up the clour palettes and add to them etc.The manual says you can create a new one and save it.......cant figure that one out. I suppose I could delete all the colour chips from a current palette and save it as a new name , but that would be a chore. Also anyway to make the colour chips a bit bigger? I shall have another poke around as I usually miss the obvious!!
edit. once I have called up a palette it seems to break the "space bar" colour palette?
edit 2 Ok ,Ive figured it out, delete all,( so, not a chore after all!) then save as.....but not in the 3dCoat folder for Palettes, cos my "computer sez no" ....would you like to put it here instead?

Hiding the polys "round the back" helps a little. But there is still to much see thru for my liking. Moving the light helps a bit too.A little slider to vary the opacity of the voxels would be an idea? ( please tell me there is one and I havnt yet found it!)
-
Im retoping, but as I go round a rim or a finger or generally around something the model becomes seethru and becomes confusing...anyway to turn this off so the voxel model is completely solid?

Nice work! ( has nobody told Mr Cyborg smoking is bad for your health ! )
(PP ?....Photoshop?)

I think its just losing the path. Its not another drive, its a partitioned HDD.The C part where I think the desktop is located was getting a bit full so I was just clearing it out a bit by moving stuff to the massive "D" part of it. I tend to just throw stuff on the desktop for convenience, but it go a bit out of hand.Once I archive stuff I rarely go back to it. Its all working so thats fine. I put a notepad file in the folder to remind myself to put it back on the desktop if I want to use it again....I tend to forget stuff!!! I will try and make more shortcuts to the D Drive........but Ive got one tidied up computer now!
-
I am having a bit of a tidy up on my computer( vista) .I moved a folder that was just one 3dcoat project from my Desktop to my D drive just to get it out of the way....and its a massive file! If I try and open a scene from the D drive, the model comes in but not the painted layers. The layers are indicated but not visable.Would I be correct in assuming that 3dCoat was looking for the images on the desktop, but could not find them.It all goes ok when I put the folder back in its original place.

So Zbrush doesnt have that already? With all those buttons and wotnot I thought it could do that!

Thanks guys! Spec down...I wanted it more, I needed him to be sweaty after a nights foraging beneath the Hollywood sign! I tried sss on my earlier versions...havnt quite figured that one out yet .Though on the earlier version, I did end up using "edge falloff" a sort of fake sss. I keep popping over to the Blender site to keep checking it out. It still does not suit me...little things ,like moving the camera......what was all that about, from what I can remember it was like working a flippin video game! I just want to move the camera like you do in Carrara.....you just sort of ....move it. Anyway...my brain is full

Ive noticed the "Showvoxelsinpaintroom" re-checks it self on if you switch it off then restart 3dcoat. This is a bit annoying because I think this is part of the "invisible model" syndrome I was getting. So you have to keep going back to switch it off to see your model in the paint room.

This massive memory usage has really been bugging me so I investigated further. The model I had in my voxel room which I suppose I dont really need any more because I had taken it all the way to the paint stage ( retopo ,unwrap etc) had all ready been deleted but this didnt seem to make much difference to the overall size of the file. So I summised it must be still floating about somewhere. There is a check box in the Voxels window...Remove all Caches..... that did the trick , 850mb down to 100 mb.. still a lot, but tons better. When I ship it all out to Carrara its reduced to 13 mb. Which I guess is what I was expecting Coat to be. ( I obviously dont claim to know how all this stuff actually works!!)

Great, i will reinstall the latest version and see if the solution to the "Case of the Invisible Object" that was suggested on my other thread works!
I love the VoxelLayer thingy, loads of possibilities. I've not given it a proper look yet,but is there an option to draw a constained straight line. I need to make a shopping trolly and I figured if I drew a grid around a primitive I could just extract one!! I did notice the Alpha brushes faded towards the edge? ( I had the option unchecked in Options ) Or maybe I'm just a bit SIMP!
Every time a new thing appears my mind races....but I need to learn the basics first I feel.....
Edit . I figured it out 2d Grid...Snap to grid...draw line....apply voxel layer...= wire basket mesh !

I've gone back to an older version of 3dcoat and then back again....I've done this several times. Not being a computer genious like some of you clever people I was wondering ,am I doing it the right way...I have a folder with several versions I have downloaded , Cuda and Simp ( what does "Simp" mean by the way?) And all I have been doing is clicking the Version I would like to try, and It installs In no time. It seems to just replace the version I had. Is this the way to do it, or should I be deleting the installed version. Have I got a bunch of files slowly getting bigger and bigger somewhere clogging up my computer....

Thanks for the replys guys, food for thought there.

Had to revert back to previous vers as my model is invisible in the paint room unless you pres ALT? Plus some other stuff I cant figure out how to put into words for the moment

Thanks AR, One of the ideas that was swilling around my mostly empty brain was to do another fake comic cover! I did a couple a while back..( they are on my blog somewhere) It would have made a nice companion piece but it went towards a landscape format rather than portrait.Ive archived the the files now.....I consider that now "put to bed"....right...onto the next idea.....if I can think of something!
