  1. Thanks AbnRanger. Will have a go when I get home this evening. Cheers.
  2. Although not a new user exactly I am trying to do something new to me. Having just gotten a new machine I want to transfer my 3D-Coat license to it but I'm a little unclear as to what I need to do. My guess is do an uninstall and it gives me a new activation or installation number maybe? I thought there was something in the manual or Forums about it but I can't seem to find the information I'm looking for - my search terms aren't turning up the right stuff. If someone could direct me to the right info that would be appreciated.
  3. I thought if any forum I look at regularly might have something to say about tablets it was this one given that 3d-coat seems kind of limited without one. Thanks for responding philnolan. What people have said to me in other forums and conversations is essentially what you say. Not sure why the site was not accessible. Perhaps no-one has come across the capax before or its known by another name outside of Australia. As it turns out it doesn't appear to have tilt recognition - not a feature 3d-coat uses (as far as I know!) but other software I use does so I'm ruling out the capax and will probably go for an Intuos anyway - somehow!
  4. My old Wacom ArtZ II has given up the ghost and I'm not in a position to lash out on an Intuos at this moment but I need a drawing tablet. A guy at my local computer shop suggested a Capax which is significantly cheaper - see the link: http://www.capaxtech.com.au/capax3/html2/p...asp?code=171104 Is anyone familiar with this device? I've not heard of them before but is it really comparable to the Wacoms? I'm hoping to get some useful feedback from people who have come across them. What do you think of them? Positives? Negatives? Direct comparison with a Wacom? Would it be a good stopgap until I can afford an Intuos or do you have other drawing tablet suggestions?
  5. Thank you Andrew that sounds like it is the solution. Shall let you know if I still have a problem.
  6. Probably a newbie problem but I'm finding I'm getting grey lines where the edges of the different segments of the uv map meet each other on the 3d model in my rendering program. See pic - when looking at it in a realtime dx environment (ie trueSpace 7.6 workspace) its even worse. My first experiments in 3d-coat didn't seem to have this problem. Is there some setting I have not adjusted correctly?
  7. All the calculations are confusing me. I think it is this: New user buying 3 = $200 Existing user upgrading to 3 = $100 (The floating $20? beats me - not relevant? An additional level of support for 3 months? What?) As someone who only just bought 2.1 in the past week I am definitely feeling like I have been caught in a trap designed to rip an extra $20 out of my pocket. I don't see anywhere on the front end of the website that the reason for the impending price increase was a new full number version release. I thought it was just currently on special and Sept 15 would be a return to normal pricing. Frankly, if the release of 3 had been made clear I would have waited. So I'm feeling pretty annoyed about that.
  8. Hi, this is my first post! Often I have the radio classical music on or if its cds its likely to be blues Johnny Winter, SRV, Duke Robillard whatever. However as often as not its likely to be a spoken word book. Dean Koontz's Odd Hours at the moment.
