Maybe asked before, but i dont know what to search for.
How can i have a blank (color) shading, when switching from voxel room to paint room... i mean a neutral color (white), to start with painting

"The autolod is auto adjusted regarding brush size. Problem is it's very localized, which can be cool, but currently on the border area it creates superpoles. And that's where the holes/explosions happen:"
That is how I thought it might work. Sometimes though you want a smaller brush size without increasing the detail or increasing only slightly. RefineSteps made that possible as you could adjust it. I hope we can have an option to use refinesteps and not completely do away with it.
RefineSteps was very handy and a big part of my workflow. Sculptris has a detail slider which is more or less like RefineSteps, so having it all auto LOD might not be the best solution as the user has no control over the amount of detail except brush size...
if you want to sculp without increasing resolution, why not switching to normal surface mode tools... its not that hard

Dont take it badly, but what first raced through my mind: It looks like an oversized gun to me
( i think because of this part under the bottom, that looks like a pistol grip )
But in the right enviroment (space), i would identificate it as starship without doubt.

technically nice made,
but not really good story

I think Andrew might have forgot to mention here that he fixed a critical bug problem with file saving/ incremental saving causing incorrect file size saves...
He uploaded a new windows version.
3.7.18H
Original post...

Johnnycore also posted a Mantis bug report...
great, i have a file which also suffered from this issue, will check that out

update on the old man-head.
now he has also a body.
that mud2-brush is really the best brush, dont even need crease from LC.
Body is about 800k tris now. head also 800k
-
distorted previous head.... just for fun.
reminded me of Quentin tarantino...LOL
-
i think were talking about two different problems...
its a difference between files, which increase in size due adding a lot new (color) information,
and files which increases without changing anything ( just increase by resaving)

because somehow my edit-function disapeared, i repost pic for #29
btw, is it only able to edit last post in a thread? becuase now i can only edit this post, other not... only option for delete
and for # 31

i had a big file issue two times or more
but i my case it was only one file which got currupted at one point. This lead to astronomical increase of filesize, after each incremental save.
heres one http://3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=10085
didnt hear something about it, sadly
But this was only regarding those "already corrupted" files. It was not a general problem. But i think exporting in obj and reimporting in new scene didnt solve the size-problem for me. Even then the sizes went up to 1,3gb and higher.

yes thx beatkitano , i already reported that post... lol
(tw it seems that my imagelinks are broken, need to fix them when im at home)

thanx L'ancien regime,
could use that on my gorilla project, which i will probably rework sometime.
and also thanx artman for your comment on posting #24
i refined my posting #24
it has now 800k tris.
it should work with ca. 200k also, but i experienced mesh explosions during the use of LC-tools , so only way for me, was to move to voxels at 800k. I lost some real fine details, but i had to die one death anyway
-
some more doodling , dont know what it should be called
-
why not making a b/w shape mask for extruding shapes with that mask-option.
Than smoothing the shape-"edges"
and finally a simple greyscale-version of that pic for adding details, again with that mask-option?
-
now available also for paypal-users who wants to back
-
btw it looks like this warrior wears a watch
-
meanwhile youre waiting, you can paint on your reference image plane
-
im maybe wrong, but isnt there an option for making it uniform? i think RMB on layer and then hit "to world space" or something which sounds similar (sorry i dont have program at hand right now)
edit: actually its right click on the layer in the VoxTree and select 'To global space'
-
I complained the bottom before, but now i think it looks perfect
And i love this saturated style. About some more tweaking, i think its almost done, like you said.
Maybe only adding some glare/ almost white areas to the peaks of each carapace-plate, but thats maybe not neccessary.

Andrew, thank you so much for the Collada-Import. I was waiting eagerly for it, and now i can finally retopo my old sketchup-Models.
(i noticed that i have to explode my SketchUp models first, before exporting as Collada, otherwise 3DC will loaf only parts of the model)

for anyone who is interested in old school click and point adventures, here is a new sequel for the popular adventure game '" broken sword " announced.
you can back them up, only 50k dollars left to go.

yes i doodled without 'remove stretching' , because i somehow feel that without i can control the results better. but i didnt smooth at all, maybe later
-
tried out a new sculpting approach for me.
all work with Mud2, i know its very early stage , but it is best result so far for me at 70k tris
