Retopo mesh import option

Would it be possible to have an option to skip the "snapping" step on import of a mesh into retopo mode? The reason is that on the end of these fingers I have bumps, which are better served with displacements if the ends are stretched out artificially (when smoothed, the result is closer to the original voxel sculpt and better for displacements). I realize i'm not being very clear here. Here are the pictures showing the problem:
