Sculpting Layering within Voxel Layers

I sculpted a roman pillar for a customer of mine and it was supposed to have dents on the surface. Somehow the professor wanted to see different versions of dents on the surface. Since I had already sculpted those details I had to go look for a previously saved version to sculpt on, but no saved out version actually came as close to the surface before the dents were sculpted on the surface. In short, I know there are low level workarounds to this and that it is no killer issue, but I'd very much like Andrew looking into it. I'm attaching a UI proposal explaining what I'm trying to get at...

Cheers;

AJ

Maybe it could be designed to work with both voxel sculpting and Surface depending on which is applied on which layer... Andrew would know better how it could work best. The feature exists in Zbrush and Mudbox too, and it is very useful. You can try out different surface harmonics and store them in layers, either commit to one of them or you can blend them additively. This would be an awesome addition for future releases.
