Hi, I have a figure with a map set up requiring a transparency map to be part of the whole of looking over things for seams and what not.  I can not find a way to incorporate that.  I've looked in all the usual places to import such a map but can't find it.  The figure is a human figure, it's using UDIM and this is for it's genital conformer in the pubic area.  Currently the outer part of the map is in the way and can't see past it to look at areas that need looking at.   I've tried all the other ways within 3DCoat to make this happen.   Watched an older video on how to go through Photoshop to try to get this to happen (too outdated and not helpful for what I'm wanting and needing within 3DCoat).  So it was suggested that I put this in this forum in hopes this can become a reality.   As replete with options that this program offers this one issue seems to be a show stopper for me right now.  I even tried setting up the conformer with a mask which I chose the trans-map but that didn't do anything and even tried selecting a clipping mask option, which by way of what it's supposed to do should work but it also doesn't do anything.

can we maybe get better painting performance? when im painting the fps drops to 15/20 fps ... i end up over extending paint lines etc ..   // sorry i thought this was on the 3dcoat feature request .
    • Elemeno
not 100% sure what you mean, have you got an example i can look at ?
    • Carlosan
It is a good feature request.

I did import in the transparency map for the conformer but alas there doesn't seem to be a blend mode to cause the black to "erase" or hide the map below it's pixels.  As replete with options that this program offers this one issue seems to be a show stopper for me right now.  I even tried setting up the conformer with a mask which I chose the transmap but that didn't do anything and even tried selecting a clipping mask option, which by way of what it's supposed to do should work but it also doesn't do anything.

Sorry to say that's very confusing.  Are you planning on supporting importation of Alphas without all that jumping around at some point?  Needless to say the alpha channel example in the video didn't exactly give the viewer a clean looking flower as one could still see all the bits that were not being properly made transparent allowing for the under bits of the diffuse map to show through.

      Old video Hope this help

Separate, as separate panels - now it's pretty easy to mess painting and sculpting.
    • Mihu83
Oh, yeah, I've missed that setting...
    • Elemeno
this also applies to most of the tools too, as for layers and sculpting , they are separate and can even be moved or removed ...
    • Elemeno
the brush tool , make sure this box is unchecked and it wont interact with other polygroups ...

Some suggestions for devs: 1. Paint room/Sculpt room - separate panel for sculpt layers. Keeping paint layers and sculpt layeers together gives a messy outcome really fast. 2. Retopo/Modeling a. Brush tool - prevent it from picking every visible polygroup. Pretty annoying when you try to adjust one polygroup and it's picking every visible group. b. Relax tool - same as brush tool. Subdividing mesh works as expected, affecting only current polygroup, but when you hit Relax, it's affecting all visible polygroups.      I need to check if it also influence hidden polygroups.

@sheeplion @Carlosan Hello! for your .glb file in Blender. It is not a "normals" problem. It is transparency/alpha. in this case the alpha is taken from the diffusive image. You can: 1. simply unlink the alpha from the principal shader. 2. or select the shader node, press n on keyboard, go to options tab on the right, turn off transparency overlay. 3.OR change the render method to "dithered" also in options. that looks better. Now for the fbx export from blender. To construct a fbx compatiple shader, the images have to go straight into the principal shader. No other convert Nodes. If i remember correctly only the normal node or displacement node are allowed. so you will have to remove the 3dc node group for fbx. there is a button for that. Bit late but i also wanted to do this as a reminder at least for myself. I have used Blender 5.0 for this test. Hope it helps!
