  1. I started to think that as well, but after you "pick" your points, you can't move them. Sometimes I get lucky and they move, but I'm not sure what combination of clicking got me there. I'd like it if the handles stayed handles, and if you could manually input the desired coordinates.
  2. Some progress. If I close 3d-Coat and reopen it, I can select the fill tool, and check the "lines mode". At that time, the vector is vertical with selectable ends. I have one chance to move each end to a different position. So if I select the front camera I can get the xy coordinates correct, but the z slides whichever way it wants. At least I get one chance I'd like to know if I'm just doing something wrong or whether this is something that could be enhanced. Thanks.
  3. Perhaps I need to add that I'm just painting an object.
  4. I'm trying to use "gradient filling" When you select "lines mode" you can fill with a gradient of color from the current color to secondary. You must choos two points to define the vector that is the direction of the gradient. I'm having trouble getting that vector where I want it. Sorry for the confusion, let me know if that still doesn't make sense.
  5. Hi all, I'm trying to use the fill tool with a gradient. I'm having trouble putting point 1 and point 2 where I want them I'm sure I'm just not using my mouse correctly. How can I select the point and move it where I want it? Is there a way I can edit its coordinates manually? When I first put them on, they seem to want to be placed on the surface, but I want them in "space". Thank you for your time.
  6. Thank you so much for your replies, the shaders are so incredible. That'd be perfectly fine if it will keep the UV's. Can't wait to try it. Indi.
  7. I'm really just getting started with this. I seem to only be able to use shaders in Voxel mode. I guess this would be great if I were using Voxels, but I'm not (yet). If I have a mesh that I've imported and am painting, it isn't possible to apply a shader to it? If I have the mesh, I can click on Voxel mode, and I have a little sphere that I can apply a shader to, but not my mesh. Is this correct? I don't have many textures to apply to my meshes, especially with relevant bump/spec maps. Thank you. Indi.
  8. Hello everyone, I'm using 3DC to paint textures on things others make. I'm a hobbyist and know very little about most of what I see in the forums regarding modeling. I hope someone can help despite my annoying newbieness When using 3DC, if I'm importing an object (for pixel painting) with multiple material zones, it exports separate UV-sets for each material, and thus creates separate material maps. That's ok, I guess I can combine them later with Photoshop, but is there a way to import it so that the UV-set is the same? I read somewhere that this is because there is no texture applied. I opened the .obj in my modeler and applied a texture and resaved. This created a .mtl file. Now it imports properly with the texture applied. Is that the correct workflow? Secondly, for some reason, the model imports with some sort of break in the mesh that I can't paint over. I can't see anything breaking there in the modeler, but again, I'm not a modeler. (Screenshots attached). Does anyone know how I can correct the model so that it does not have these breaks? edited to add: I found the breaks in the modeler and fixed it! Thanks
  9. Hi, Just curious, will these updates work on the trial version? I'm currently using a 30-day trial with 3.1.15. Thank you. Also, I just love this program. Sometimes you just click with a program and it makes sense. I'm not sure I'll be able to actually afford it when the 30-days are up, what with xmas and all, but I definitely have enjoyed what I've been able to do so far, so thanks. Indi.
  10. Yea, I figured that out, but my post hadn't been approved so I couldn't delete it :-X. Thank you.
  11. Hi, Rather new here, but full of questions. Is this the best place to ask? I'm trying to paint upon a curve. I'm having no problem drawing a curve, but no paint seems to be happening. Can someone pleasee tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks, Indi.
