  1. what a great post Zeddicus. I will follow your advice and make sure everything is working as it should. For now i spray with an special cleaner the pc fan and now it runs smoothly. I will run 3d Coat now and with one of those applications i will check how much my system increase in temperature. Many thanks for the help, is highly appreciate it.
  2. thanks for the help, i`m going to try that.
  3. thanks. Yes, i`m using the latest Beta 4 build as a demo. And is great, it has many great features. But it seems that i will have to wait to use it until i have new hardware....
  4. Hi I try 3d coat some years ago and i love it, but at the time i had a problem of 3d coat overheating my pc to the point that i had to change the fan ventilation. I though it could be a coincidence but now that i tryng again 3d coat i having the same issue with overheating and the pc fan getting faulty. I search around and it seems some others are having the same issue. I found a very old topic of 2008 saying just that http://3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1674 Is there something i can do to prevent 3d coat overheating my pc?...., or in any case are there plans to change the way 3d coat works, which as i read it works like a video game. Many Thanks best regards
  5. Yes please. Put back SHIFT for smoothing in to the MOVE tool and put the option for normal move to the CTRL key. Also if you have the time. I will like to request again the option to maintain the Size, Depth and Falloff of each brush independently. Make this an option of switch on and off....PLEASE Thanks
  6. ABOUT THE PROBLEM WITH INCREASING RESOLUTION Andrew, the issue that i mention earlier about not having the option to increase resolution is perhaps maybe related somehow when using the carve tool and lasso to cut big areas of mesh...If i just increase the resolution of the defaul sphere that appears when entering the voxel mode i have the option to increase the resolution to about 5 million Triangles.... But if i merge an small sphere and delete the default one i just have the option to subdivide between 300 thousand and 600 thousand.... If i just delete with carve and one of the lasso tools big areas of the DEFAULT sphere the result is the same.......So it seems that perhaps using that tool somehow eats a lot of memory...?......
  7. No, i check this and the symmetry plane was always in the exact center...The latest alpha seems to still have the issue but not as much as the previous alpha-17....I'm almost sure that is because of the move tool....there is an small, almost instantaneous, processing every time the move brush move the mesh..i think is in this moment when the symmetry don't work and therefore the yellow dot on the opposite side don't match and the symmetry broke....This not always happen... So my vote is to perhaps check the move tool please. PROBLEM WITH FILE SIZE AND INCREASING RESOLUTION In the latest alpha i have an issue...All files save with a very big size in the disk....this cause an slow interaction and it is not possible to increase the resolution...As an example a 600,000 triangles mesh is in size almost 23 megas while other mesh of nearly 1,400,000 triangles is in size almost 10 megas in previous alphas...and i can still have the option to subdivide the mesh because, i suppose, of the small memory size in the hard drive....that as i said was in the previous alphas.....But now with the big size files there is not option to increase resolution to more than 500,000 or 600,000 This happen when merging the default sphere that came in the samples folder and deleting the default sphere that came with voxel sculpting. Thanks
  8. Thanks Andrew, is weird that you did not have issues since it happen to me three times..... Anyways, i'm going to test it out to see how symmetry is working now With symmetry syncronisation you mean working one half first and then applying symmetry..?....
  9. Thanks Andrew...I hope that the SYMMETRY BUG that i reported earlier was fixed as well...That bug is a BIG ONE..
  10. Symmetry is not working right It has happen already three time so i suppose it's a bug. 1-Activate symmetry across X - axis 2-Start the volumetric mode and select "Merge" 3-Then hit "select mesh" and select the sphere from the samples folder of 3dcoat 3 alpha. 4-Scale the sphere to make it much more smaller than the default volumetric sphere. 5-Subdivide several time until it gets smooth and hit enter. 6-Delete the other default bigger sphere with the carve tool and the lasso. 7-the little sphere is now about 30000 triangles. 8-Begin to shape the sphere using a lot of the "move tool" in BIG size and also the "Spray/thaw" tool. 9-Eventually the yellow dot that represent the opposite side will not be in the right place, which mean that could be in the air or to much inside in the mesh....In any case it is not in the exact spot in the opposite side...Some time this mean that you brush one side and the other is not influenced...or viceversa..you brush one side very lightly and the other side receive a big and strong influence.... I must add that the symmetry plane was always exactly in the center and also the sphere that i merge in the scene..at the beginning i check that the yellow dot is represented in the exact spot in the opposite side..this happen just some time later after using the brushes...mainly the MOVE tool and the spray/thaw tool... Please Andrew fix this BUG... Thank you.
  11. Great update, specially REAL TIME SHADOWS....WONDERFUL. THANKS ANDREW
  12. Yes, me too , freezing like in Mudbox or Zbrush to lock parts of the mesh so they are not influenced by the brush. The hiding part of your question was already answer by Andrew a couple of pages earlier, that's why i just remark the "masking" in the question.
  13. Since the hiding part was already answered I will like know about "masking to freeze or lock sections of the mesh" please. Thanks
  14. I edit my previous post because i actually love both ways... So if Andrew implement the size and brush with sticky keys or with left, right, up an down MMB like i request earlier(my favorite). Either way i will be happy. But that work flow enhancements could be implemented later. Speaking of work flow. Other thing that i would love to have is the option to switch on and off to maintain the size and the depth of each the brushes. So each brush will maintain it`s size and depth every time i come back to them. But again. that could be implemented later...
  15. Mudbox has sticky keys for size brush and pressure. You hold down "B" and adjust size...Hold down "M" and adjust pressure.
  16. Amazing new release. I completely agree with 3dioot, the move tool is AWESOME. And the transition from surface to voxel is WAY FASTER. I second that. The carve tool does not change depth with pen pressure. REQUEST: I will like to request the option to adjust the "size" of the brush and the "depth". Silo has the best work flow in this regard. Middle mouse click left to right and you will adjust the "size"...middle mouse click up and down and you will adjust the "depth". I have the middle mouse click configured to one of my pen buttons and it works very intuitively.
  17. 3dioot, i agree with you in that if it`s turn OFF it should not affect the width...As you said it`s a bug that need to be fixed. I`m sure Andrew is already working in that. How brush behaves is crucial in an sculpting app. Cheers
  18. In Zbrush and Mudbox with pen pressure you control the "thickness" of the brush as well as how much it push in and out from the mesh.... I personally like to have the pen pressure to change the "thickness" of the stroke.... in conjunction of course with the strength of the add and subtract. So please in any case make the "pen pressure to change the thickness of the stroke" an optional turn ON and OFF switch so everybody is happy. Thanks
  19. Andrew. One important thing to point out about the increasing subdivision option is that it smooth out the shapes in every increase and almost always it completely erase the strokes of the previous subdivision. Just take the default sphere that it appears when entering voxel sculpting make a few strokes, subdivide and all the strokes will completely disappear. This happens only if you have used the surface tools, but if you enter the voxel/tools before subdivide the strokes get smoother but do not disappear.... Also in the highest subdivisions a boxy small squares appears in the whole mesh. I haven`t download yet the latest alpha-09...but those subdivision issues appears in the alpha-07 Thanks and great to know that you are working in the voxel-based move tool. The move tool is really an essential and very important tool.
  20. Great update Andrew, the volumetric sculpting is getting better and better with each release. There are still some issues with the move tool. With symmetry turn ON when you move one area, with a big brush, towards inside the mesh other area pops out. The move tool right now seems more appropriate for move very small areas, but that i think is because the initial resolution of the voxel mesh is still to much for big changes with the move brush in big size..... As i said earlier i don`t know the programing tech behind voxel sculpting. But if it has some similarities with poly/sculpting in regards of how BIG size brushes get faster in the lowest subdivision levels and get sloweeeeer in the highest subdivisions, then i think it would be very necessary to have the option of lowest subdivision levels in order to make big changes just like it is done in poly/sculpting. Thanks
  21. I don`t know the programing tech behind voxel/sculpting. But if jumping back and forth subdivisions levels help with the interaction, faster and real time in the lowest subdivision with big size brushes, the move tool, smooth, and with fast real time interaction in the highest subdivision with small size brushes, just like in poly/sculpting, then definitively please add this feature... Thanks
  22. Thanks Andrew for the answer. Increase and decrease subdivision levels is an essential feature. I`m glad that you will make the increasing subdivision part soon. I`m hoping you will release the decreasing subdivision section soon as well. Great. Waiting for that one. Thanks again.
