  1. I have finally freed myself from Maya a bit and was able to get on with my short film using 3Dcoat. I must admit I'm quite amazed indeed. Great work so far Andrew! I have tested the quadrangulation capabilities and for a first attempt, again, very impressive. Included is an image of the latest model I'm working on. My workflow, as of now, would be: quadrangulation, import to Maya, some minor poly relaxing and poly reducing, animation using FFD's and dynamic nCloth simulation. Even rigging with a classical bones setup would work although if you're more into photorealistic modeling/animation, you'll want a somewhat more refined edgeflow. Still this is the first go with quadrangulation. I'm sure there will be additional tools to control polygon spreading in the future. Just remember Alpha1 and the way it evolved
  2. apart from it's abstract nature, based on automatic drawing/sculpting , it's a skeletal remain of an unknown creature, loosely inspired by the "drifters" in Philip K. Dick's book "The World Jones Made", where apparently lifeless seed fall on earth from space...
  3. Press the "to polygones" button, wait a second or two, go to -> File -> Export model (obj, lwo)
  4. Hey there, I started using 3DC's voxel sculpt to produce some models for my new short film, and I am very impressed so far. Everything is working fine, I mostly use the spray/thaw brush... It would have taken me ages to model this in Maya... Ondrej
  5. Quite simple. You take the ZBrush path, and sculpt a topology-dependent "plastic-bag" subdivided into trillions of polygons. Or you take the 3DC V3 path, and sculpt voxel-based digital clay, not worrying about topology.
  6. No, I don't find Improv offensive, in a general meaning. There must be an Improv on every forum out there. Maybe it's some new generation of high-tech artificial intelligence virus, bringing a kind of strange lack of common-sense respect with itself. Or maybe it's just a poor kid getting beaten-up at school everyday and then beaten-up at home, who lost all faith in the goodness of (a part of) mankind. Who knows really? No one does. Although I don't know Andrew personally, he seems to me the kind of person you could call: too good. I am blessed to have some of those people around me as friends and family, and find it quite natural to defend them, as their goodness gets often exploited by others. As for Improv, may his soul find peace one day. I suggest taking a break off the mouse-clicking business and sculpting stone with a jackhammer.
  7. Taking into consideration that the only alternative software for voxel sculpting is ClayTools, which costs cca 6000$ (ok, you get a haptic input device - the standalone software costs around 1500$), I think 200-220$ for 3DC3 is more than fair. To keep everyone happy, it would be fine if the price for the upgrade to V3.0 would be less than the full price. For example: full price for version 3: 220$ upgrade price: 80$ (+ 120$ already payed for V2) = 200$ This way the existing "loyal" user community would spare 20$. Oh, and I forgot. You can always buy Voxel3D instead. It only costs 35$ lol
  8. Just messing around with the new volumetric sculpting capabilities. True creative freedom. Finally
  9. WOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Great work Andrew! You've got a new future customer
  10. Wow, that's great news! I've been dreaming about a particle-cloud/voxel based modeler for some years now. Congratulations on your work! All the best Ondrej
