Member Kevron Posted October 16, 2012 Member Report Share Posted October 16, 2012 BUILD: v3-7-18c OS: Mac osx 10.6.8 HARDWARE: (If applicable) 2 x 2.66 Ghz 6-Core Intel Xeon - 48 GB 1333 Mhz DDR3 - ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024 vram BUG DESCRIPTION: 3D coat becomes unresponsive and I need to force quit the application STEPS TO REPRODUCE: Importing five simple planes via applink for ppp (Cinema 4D to 3dCoat). Unwrap the uv (uv size is 8k, and the five imported planes is unwrapped in the same uv). If I then save the file and quit 3d coat, the file will never open again. If I do not quit 3Dcoat, but try to "edit all layers in ext. app", it becomes unresponsive after saving the new changes in photoshop. And I need to force quit 3D coat. Here is the file: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1059954/3Dcoat_support/Fourpages_v03.3b.zip Is it the 8k uv-size that mess things up? I thought my system should handle it, but it just will not work. Hope somebody can give some insights. Best regards, Tor Martin

Member Kevron Posted October 16, 2012 Author Member Report Share Posted October 16, 2012 After some further testing, I can say it is caused by the 8k texture. If I work with a 4k map, everything seems stable. Is it my graphic card that is to weak? Should it be more vram? Cheers.
Psmith
The Mac version 4 beta is due to be released any day now. Hopefully this limitation has been addressed. But, if it persists, I will file an urgent fix request. Greg Smith
Member Kevron Posted October 16, 2012 Author Member Report Share Posted October 16, 2012 Nice to hear My workaround is to scale it in post and texture it in 8k in photoshop. Looking forward to version 4 beta. Regards, Tor Martin
