Advanced Member paulrus Posted February 17, 2014 Advanced Member Report Share Posted February 17, 2014 I am trying for the first time to paint my model before retopologizing it, but I'm running into a huge problem. If I keep it in Surface mode, 3D-Coat freezes. I checked the task manager and it's using 8% of the CPU - I tried leaving it sit for 2 hours and nothing happened. I tried using the voxelize before autopo option and the autopo was done in a few seconds. Are there any tips/tricks for working from Surface to Autopo? Thanks, Paul
Javis
Hi Paul! The reason is probably because there is a hole somewhere in the mesh, or it's just open. Holes will definitely freeze up 3DC when running autopo, it's just the nature of the beast in this case. It could also be free floating polygons/vertices, overlapping polygons, and other similar things. If possible, run a unify poly command, merge vertices (with 0mm tolerance, just to remove any overlapping vertices) in the package your modeled it in, and then try to run autopo.
