Contributor artman Posted November 24, 2009 Contributor Report Share Posted November 24, 2009 3DCoat supports overlapping uvs when baking normal map while in Zbrush we can't the hic is that 3DC is unable to generate overlapping uvs for itself when using Apply Symmetry command in retopo menu.So we cannot use that strength unless we make Uvs outside 3DC.Which is absurd since the Uv toolset is very strong. So here is the idea, pretty much contained in the title. (In the idea it would also weld the uvs vertices along the symmetry plane.) Going in an external 3D package just to do those operations is a detour considering how autonomous 3DC already is.

Apply sym in UV world SHOULD totally use the same UVs ... as option (some may want assym painting on teh object of course, but for some assets.... anyway - never mind, this is just a good idea. option to use mirrored UVs! Contributor artman Posted February 24, 2010 Author Contributor Report Share Posted February 24, 2010 Andrew,I saw this little maya Script ...something like that in 3DC could do the trick I think. http://www.creativecrash.com/maya/downloads/scripts-plugins/modeling/poly-tools/c/match-uv-in-maya Only need to add to it a way to manually weld Uvs vertex that are along the symmetry line.
